already worrying about maternity clothes

I am 6ft tall. I have a hard enough time finding regular pants to fit and it just occurred to me that I am going to have to find maternity pants with longer inseams for work in the winter!!!  AHHH!  I found some stuff on The Gap's website but holy moly- EXPENSIVE! I shouldn't be thinking about this yet...

Re: already worrying about maternity clothes

  • I think Motherhood has tall sizes, but they're not cheap, either. Maybe Old Navy has long? I have the opposite, I have to buy petite, but I have to say....most of my maternity jeans fit better than my regular ones. Maybe you'll get lucky!

I'm petite also, but had a major problem finding nice fitting pants. All of my Motherhood pants where really baggy, and just didn't fit right.

Where did you buy your pants?

  • Check out Old Navy! They FOR SURE have "Long" inseams.. I believe they are 34".. I just bought a pair of their new "smooth panel" skinny mini flare jeans with the full panel.. and LOVE them! I'm 5'7" and last pregnancy HATED maternity jeans because they were all high waters and the motherhood jeans I had in the "medium" looked like I crapped my pants! Old Navy has more sizes.. 6-8-10 etc.. not just the small medium and large.. I'm all belly when I'm preggo so I need the full panel otherwise my butt doesn't hold the pants up haha.. but I am actually loooking forward to wearing these jeans because they look great.. Oh and their regular length ones for me were plenty long. and yes.. the normal motherhood regular jeans were too short. Old navy must just run longer... but like I said.. I love them! OH.. and bonus.. I only paid $40 for the pair.. and all their jeans usually run $29-$40!

Here is a link to the "long" inseam jeans they have

Motherhood and Old Navy, but I hated the Old Navy ones. I guess I have a big bum Embarrassed Their M fit me perfectly.

  • Also, to combat the expensiveness of it all don't forget to google coupon codes and use ebates when shopping online :)

  • My friend is about 5'11" and she found a lot of her pants at JC penny. HTH!

  • What's your inseam? If it's 34 or less, Old Navy and Gap will work. For 33, Motherhood will work. If it's 35 or more (mine is)... I'm not going to lie, it's tough and you'll pay more. Try RG Maternity and Long Tall Sally, and look for designer brand maternity jeans on eBay--they tend to be a lot longer. If you have a regular brand that works well for you, you can buy a size larger and use a bella band or the rubber band trick on the pants, leave your jacket open, and get by for a while.

I am so glad im not the only one who shows stupid early! I might have made it to 10 weeks, but i swear im not fitting into stuff already.

OP, I gave birth in the summer last time, so my maternity stuff is mostly the wrong season. ive already found some great stuff secondhand, and ive seen long inseams there. might be worth a try. you could always wear leggings with boots often where you can hide the hem a bit.

I am also 6ft - I'm soooo glad you posted this! I buy all my work clothes from the Gap so I'm sure that their maternity stuff will work for me - yes it's expensive but all of the clothes for our bodies are expensive. I'd look for sales or an outlet store. We have a Gap Outlet about an hour from me so I plan on checking that out! ;) Good luck and please keep me updated - we'll have to share experiences. Also, I'm curious about how much we're going to show since I'm assuming you also have a long torso! ;)

Tall, pregnant ladies unite!  I'm 5'11, so I'm glad you posted this too.  Like Tiffy said,I can't normally find clothes long enough for me that are reasonably priced, so I'll try to look for sales, etc. and I'm also trying not to buy a ton of things.  If I find things, I'll make sure to pass them along!

I too have wondered about how much we'll show having long torsos--allegedly, we also don't get kicked in the ribs as much Smile.
