Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Anyone go to a Chiropractor?

I am going tomorrow, never been before.  Everyone has been recommending it for my lower back pain.  It always hurt a few days prior, and during my period.  Since I got pregnant, it is a constant dull pain, but on my period I can hardly bend down. I don't know if it is the extra weight I am still carrying, or what my deal is.

I know everyone is different, but once you start going...do you have to keep up on it? I guess I am just not sure what to expect.

Re: Anyone go to a Chiropractor?

  • I go once a week. It's been a life saver.  Before TTC I was on a ton of medications for pain I have a lot of back issues. Now I'm on only 2 meds and I see the chiro.

The frequency that you keep seeing him/her will depend on you. A week is really tops for me and then my pain will start to come back.  Some people can go once a month.  It just depends on you. But think of it as maintenance.

ETA: I wanted to clarify, I have chronic pain so it's always there, the chiro makes it so I can function and not have to take my meds daily, I only have 2 days out of the week that are bad compared to 4 or 5 that I am miserable.

  • I used to go on a regular basis when I lived in Canada and my supplimental insurance paid for it.  It made a huge difference for me.  I went for not only my back and neck, but a lot of other sports related injuries.

I also found if you pair massage therapy with the chiropractor you see even better results.

I hope you feel better...I know how back pain can really affect your life.

  • Yes. My pelvis over-loosened during PG starting at 24 weeks and then came back together asymmetrically after delivery. I have been in chronic pain that whole time. It took a couple of tries to find the right chiro, but now I have one I love. She specializes in women and PG-issues. I was going 3x per week for awhile, but now I just go around AF when my hormones go wacky and my body gets really loose again. (I am still in weekly pelvic PT though :( boo)
  • I love getting my back cracked, but I hate establishing a program with a chiro.

They will want you in the office every day if they can muster it.

Most chiro's that I have seen have been very pushy about it and it turns me off... but I love  being adjusted. It feels so good afterwards.
