Baby Peeing Out the Side of his Huggies

So this seems to only be a problem with Huggies, but he will be soaked in pee on his side and the inside of the diaper is dry as a bone...any thoughts on why this is happening?  Of course we just bought a box of huggies, and now wish we had bought pampers...we are going through outfits like water!

  • We had the same issue with Huggies, Pampers and the Dollar General Store brand (believe it or not) have been great.

  • We just started using a box of huggies I got at one of my baby showers and are having the same problem.

Pampers are much much better, at least for my DD.

  • What size did you buy? We were told to upgrade if they kids start peeing out of their diapers. Or make them tighter. We are Luvs fans and they are usually cheaper especially on Amazon.com

  • We have newborn, he is still only 7lb 4 oz, so he should be ok, and it doesn't happen in other brands.  Just wondering how he makes the magic happen lol

Seems like it's not sealing well around his legs, I think his legs are too tiny to get a good seal!

  • We have the sam problem.  We switched to huggies from pampers b/c LO was getting diaper rash and kept findind crystals (from the material they use as absorbent?) on and around his penis.  My SIL, who has 2 boys and a girl, recommended Target brand diapers.

We had the SAME problem with pampers (the gel stuff coming out - although the pediatrician didn't seem concerned it bothered me).  Maybe I will try the target brand...I just hate to throw so many diapers away, what a waste of money!

  • have the same problem here...thinking of going up a size to a 1.  He is still so little and can fit in N, but I think having a little more room might help?

  • I like the Pampers Swaddlers over huggies. I have heard that boys wet through the Huggies more than girls. Not sure how true it is but it could be possible.

  • this happened for the first time this morning.  i noticed her back was wet while nursing her. at first i thought she had been sweating, until i started to smell urine still, even after i changed her diaper.  sure enough, i looked in the crib and there was a wet spot on her swaddle blanket and sheet.  weird thing is it came out the top part of the back, not the sides.  pain in the butt since i had to change all her bedding in the early am.  i guess it could've been worse...poo!

i prefer pampers but tried huggies since i received a box as a gift.  i plan on sticking with pampers.  target brand is pretty good too.

  • I received a box of huggies and a box of pampers swaddlers as a gift.  We used the pampers first on our DS and they worked great. When those ran out I tried the huggies.  After DS peed through 3 diapers and had a BM out the leg of another I got my husband to go to the store and buy another box of pampers.  I have a couple of friends that have newborns as well and everyone has tried and hated the huggies.
