i think a migraine is coming

i don't usually have visual auras but i just had one for about 10 min duration, flashing colored lights.  i checked my blood pressure and it is fine, actually a little on the low side, but normal for me.  i hope hope hope that this goes away without much incident, but i'm not expecting it to end happily, should i take a tylenol now or wait until the pain sets in???

  • I would take the tylenol now. I have been getting migraines in this pg. I was so worried about them that I actually went to a neurologist (sp?). My OB said to take the pm kind. It helps better. I didn't find that only to help me sleep for only 4 hours.

    I also found that an ice pack on my head helped. Although this doesn't help everyone.

  • I find that tylenol doesn't work for me.  My doctor told me to drink a coke with caffeine in it.  The caffeine should help with the migraine and it won't hurt to have the occasional coke.

    These.  I haven't gotten many pregnant, but prepreg. I got lots (even was on a daily med to prevent them.)

    According my nuerologist (sp) as soon as you notice it coming on take something.  When you wait for the pain to be bad, it might be too late.  In my experience this holds true.  My drugs either don't kick in or take way longer to work.

    Also, ice pack or cold wet washcloth help me tons!  I actaully bought one of those eye things that you stick in the fridge.  It's awesome!

  • I had my first pregnancy migraine today, ugh it was brutal.  The tylenol didn't help.  I plan to try some of the other poster's suggestions next time.

  • I got my first migraine in ten years this pregnancy. Instead of taking meds i used a reflexology chart to hit pressure points on my foot. and i was shocked when my migrain went away! You should google healing migraines with reflexology and find the chart. just make sure you hod each pressure point for 1 to 2 mins. Good Luck!
