Someone tell me how you pronounce Elias?

Is it Ee-LYE-us? That's how I'd say it but I've never actually met someone with the name. One website makes it look like it could be pronounced uh-Lay-us? Doesn't seem right to me...

    I usually go with this pronunciation. It's a little softer to my ear than the long e sound.

  • ee-LIE-us is how we pronounce my sons name and how I have heard it pronounce most however when we lived in NY and had many hispanic friends they pronounced it EH-lee-ahs.
    E-8/9/08, A-6/7/10, W-1/11/12
  • el-LYE-us. I've never heard it pronounced any other way.

  • My friend just named her baby Elias.  She says Eh-LIE-us mostly, but sometimes she says it with a longer e..Ee-LIE-us like in Eli.

    My friend pronounces his name that way and so that's what I do since he's the only Elias I've ever met.
