Recommend a good car/travel toy, etc.

I saw the other post about magna doodle, but I couldn't find it last night. 

I want to pick up maybe 2-3 new things for our road trip to keep DS entertained.

We may get a portable DVD player since he likes his Baby Einstein Baby Mozart DVD.  We listen to a CD at the library with toddlers singing, so I could look for that.  But, of course, toys...

anyone have/use FP Learning Music player or FP Storybook Rhymes?  They both say "6-36 months" and DS is 16 months.

    My son loves to look at books in the car. We always keep a handful of board books within his reach. He also likes the books that have a steering wheel and sounds.

    I haven't heard of either of the toys you mentioned.

    I like the Leapfrog toys.  DD also has a "laptop" that she loves to play with.  DD also loves coloring.  I would recommend that whatever you bring you slowly give to DS as you drive.  I would hoard all her toys in the front and when she got tired of the current toy I'd toss her another toy.  That definitely kept things sane in the car.

    Grant liked reading books to himself on our trip. When he would start getting antsy I would climb back there and play peek a boo with his stuffed animals.
