When did your bleeding stop?

I am 9 days PP and my bleeding seemed like it was tapering off at day 6 and then I started taking 3 mile walks with LO.. and it seems to be back..not super heavy but definately small clots again. Do you think that walking is too much or do you think that its still just tapering off... I had a vaginal birth and feel great.

Re: When did your bleeding stop?

  • I would definately say its because of the walking. Right around a week mine tapered of significantly also. I had a pretty easy delivery too, vaginal, two stitchs (more for cosmetics) doctore told me I could go home whenever I wanted right around 18 hours. That being said there is no way I would do a three mile walk at 9 days pp. You are still healing alot. I would give it at least another two weeks before doing that long of walks. But I did do a mile long walk a couple times a week right around ten or eleven days pp.

  • Chances are you are doing too much walking for 9 days PP, but it's normal to bleed several weeks after. I BF and my bleeding stopped at 5 weeks and a couple of days. After about 5 days PP I only needed light pads or pantyliners but it definitely hung out and most other mommas I know said around 6 weeks for them ad well.
  • I think it is the walking.  I noticed in the first 2-3 weeks that if I did too much, the bleeding would pick back up.  You might want to shorten the walks or do them less frequently.

  • Mine lasted for 8 weeks, although it was very light after the first few days.  I had a very easy vaginal birth.

  • As PPs have said, it is probably the walking. I was told to take it easy for 2 weeks (I didn't lol), and think that caused my bleeding to last longer. I think I stopped completely after about 5 to 6 weeks. I had a fairly rough vaginal birth (forceps) and tore slightly so I had a few stitches as well.

I honestly don't think the walking will harm you at all, but it probably will just prolong your pp bleeding (like with what happened to me). If you want, you could try cutting back to just 1 mile or so and see if that affects it at all.

Major kudos for being able to walk so much so soon! :)

  • 7 weeks for me after a c section. It would get heavier and lighter frequently.
  • started tapering off at 9-10ish days. Gone by 12 days. Got a period (& I EBF) at 6 1/2 weeks. Blahhh.
  • I started walking yesterday on the treadmill at the gym, I did about 2 miles.  I felt really weak after, but I need to build my strength and I am pp 7 days.  I had an easy delivery so dr said whenever I felt up to it.  I can say that I am starting slow, and did not go today, but I will go tomorrow.  Thinking 3x a week to start off.

  • If I try to do too much, bleeding gets heavier.  I have two other kids so I am constantly going, going, going and I have a feeling my bleeding will last 6+ weeks this time.

Maybe do two shorter walks each day instead of one long one.
