Panicking

LO is 16 weeks old.  My sister in law just called to say she went to the ER last night and has been diagnosed with strep throat.  She came over on Tuesday for some quality time and handled LO.  She had her wisdom teeth out over the weekend and is on antibiotics so I?m hoping she is not contagious, but of course, I?m panicking anyways!

Before you say it, I already called the pedi and I?m waiting for a call back.  I?m just hoping my little peanut is okay and I needed a place to irrationally freak out.

    Has LO had any symptoms or anything?

    Its always a bit scary when you find out someone was sick and was around your child. Personally I get quite angry, if your sick, stay away.

    R was sick for 3 weeks, first with a cold (in the ER for fever) then the stomach flu, and then a week later the stomach flu again. She got it the second time because my nephew had it and my SIL and BIL HAD to go to the movies the night MIL was watching her. Its aggrivating.

    So far, LO has no symptoms.  And usually, I would be angry too but in my SIL's defense, she didn't know she was sick.  She just had her wisdom teeth out so she thought the swelling/general discomfort was all a result of the surgery.  I'm just glad she thought to call me and tell me!

    Pedi called me back and unless she shows a fever or "unusual" sick type symptoms, she should be fine.  I guess she said typically, kids under 2 are not quite vulnerable to strep.

    I actually had strep myself when I was home on leave and breastfeeding my DD.  Same thing that my DR said...it is VERY rare for babies to contract strep.
