dumb preschool enrollment question

Dear mamas,

Assuming I remember, I will call the school tomorrow to ask. But in the meantime, you guys are my brain.

I would like to get H1 enrolled in preschool a couple of days a week. There isn't much in the way of twos around here, and she won't be two until February. A lot of the places I am seeing say "enrolling now for fall." And I know most preschools follow a traditional school schedule (Sept-Juneish).

There is one school that I am interested in that is a three+. Assuming there is a spot, come February, do you think they will allow my daughter to enroll? Or is it typically fall-or-nothing, and we are waiting until next year? Do they prefer all the students to start together, or is it like daycare and kind of "rolls"?

School fool,

Re: dumb preschool enrollment question

  • I've found in my search that if they are 3+ they usually require the child to be potty trained because the rooms aren't equipped for diaper changes.  If they allow twos they are more likely to be setup to deal with diaper changes.  I'm not sure about if you'd have to wait for the school year to start.

The preschool we are choosing for DD has full time preschool that you can join anytime (it's more like daycare for twos + with a learning element) or part time (two days a week in the morning) preschool that follows the school calendar.  Both are not dependent on potty training.

  • Hiker, what school did you decide on?

ours is a daycare that takes kids ages 6weeks upto 8 y.o. I believe. DD will start in the 3-4 y.o. room (pre-school I guess) when she turns 3, she's is PTed. You can't start in that room until you are both 3 AND potty trained.
