Yesterday I was on top of the moon. Did a home pg test & got a BFP!!!!!!!!!!!!! Totally excited and couldn't wait to tell DH. We went out to dinner and celebrated the idea of becomming a family of four next yr and went to bed last night one happy Mumma to be of a March/April baby!
Fast forward to today when late in the afernoon I started bleeding. It is nothing severe, it's like a very light period but I am still really worried. I had a miscarriage before falling pg with Coop and that time it was really heavy with clotting so very different to this time (so far!).
What are your thoughts? Should I wait and see what tomorrow brings and then do another test? Go see a Doctor? Did any of you bleed much and then go on to have a sticky baby? Sucks so bad to feel so happy one moment then 24 hours later feel so lost and unsure how to feel now. Cross everything for me that's it's a sticky baby!! Thanks Ladies
Re: Not sure what to think
Wow, congrats!!! I haven't dealt with spotting but I know a number of girls on here have and went on to have happy, healthy babies. I would test again in the am, then maybe call my ob and see. I know some girls got in early or did early u/s just to double check with the spotting.
Congrats again!!
First off, Congratulations!!! I will pray that you have a sticky baby!
I had some bleeding with A right in the beginning. I was freaked out and called the dr right away to see what to do. My OB said it was probably nothing but that if I felt more comfortable coming in and doing a U/S they would get me scheduled. At that point I hadn't even had my first OB appt so I was very happy that they got us in. I think the light bleeding only lasted a couple days if I remember correctly.
I would call your OB and see what they say. I know that if I hadn't of gone in I would have been a mess until our 1st appt. Keep us posted!
I also had some bleeding in the beginning of my pregnancy. I called the doc and she put me on pelvic rest til the second trimester. I was really worried, but she said all would be fine, and she was right. I just had to remember to take it easy.
Best advice is to call the OB to find out what he/she thinks, then go from there. As far as I understand it is very common early on.
Good luck!
When I got pregnant with Ben, I had a light period and made an appointment to go in to start the IVF cycle... I didn't even test because I thought I had my period. All crampy and everything. As part of the initial testing for the IVF cycle they routinely run a PG test. That's the only reason I knew I was pregnant.
So bleeding can be OK. There's not much a doctor can do right now except tell you to wait and see... Although you could maybe get your progesterone tested and see if you need some supplemental progesterone... It wouldn't help if you are miscarrying, but if you are having breakthrough bleeding because of low progesterone, it could help support the pregnancy. So I maybe would call and see if you can get in today and see... My prog was low with Ben, but not with Cooper.
Congratulations!! Hoping for the best for you!
Congratulations!!!!
I bled alot with all of my pregnancies and it drove me completely batty. I, took had a miscarriage my first pregnancy - so I understand your worry.
Since I had a m/c and a totally understanding doc - the second I was pregnant with Mads and then Will, we did a qualitative HCG test to make sure the numbers were going up over the course of a couple days, not down. That really helped!
So - I say call your doctor.
Hugs Nicole! I would call your OB and see if they will get you in for reassurance...when I had my miscarriage I had to go to the ER for a Rhogam shot, but I am assuming you don't have Rh incompatibility with your DH? When I went in, they checked my hormone levels so they could see if the numbers would rise or fall, they couldn't do an ultrasound since it was too early, so I'm guessing all they would do is draw your blood and then wait and see what happens.
As the other girls said, I know a lot of moms on here had spotting and went on to have a successful pregnancy, I am hoping and praying that is the case for you!
First, yay for the BFP! I would call the OB though just for reassurance. My thoughts are going sticky for you!
This!
And congrats!
Congrats on the BFP!
As PP said, you may want to call your doctor just to be on the safe side. It's hard to know whether it's harmless spotting or not.
Fingers crossed hard for you that everything is OK and this is a take-home baby!
Congrats, N! I agree to call the doc, but also, how many DPO are you?
Let us know how you are doing tomorrow.
I spotted pretty consistently for the first 4 months with Asher. I hated it because it made me beyond nervous but he was totally healthy and thriving. Good thoughts for you today that you have a sticky baby!
ETA : If you have a Negative blood type (A- or B-) you also want to get the Dr to get an early Rhogam shot
My Blog
Woooo! Congratulations N!! If I were you I'd call the doc and get in to see them soon to just ease your mind.
I had losses before Madeline and my bleeding was very different from the m/c to the spotting I had with M. Though I was still worried until I had my appt at 8 weeks with Madeline b/c I had continual spotting. In fact I had spotting with her through my 2nd tri, so you can definitely spot and go on to a very healthy pregnancy!
I have everything crossed that this is Coops baby brother or sister!!

It's a GIRL! Lydia Marie!
Thanks everyone for your thoughts & suggestions.
I have woken up this morning (it's only 7:30am here now in Australia!) and I still just have light bleeding. So much has been going through my head whilst I was trying to sleep last night.
I should be about 28 DPO and last time around I didn't need the Rh shot so I am assuming everything would be fine this pregnancy.
I don't have an OB yet and infact I don't even know where to start! I think I will be doing some research this morning, see how the bleeding goes and try and get an appointment for this afternoon or tomorrow. Will keep you updated. Thanks again!
Congrats on the BFP.
I would go to your regular doc and request a blood draw for your beta (HCG) levels, then repeat in a couple days to see if they are doubling. An ultrasound isn't going to show anything right now.
thinking sticky baby thoughts.
