Parenting after a Loss

Why are umbrella strollers SO expensive?

I mean ya, you can get a really cheap uncomfortable one for $15 or so, but anything with a bit of comfort is gonna cost close to $200, WTH!

  • I find it ridiculous.however I also find it ridiculous that an orbit stroller can be $900-$1200 for that kind of money it better push itself, rub my shoulders and make me pancakes in the morning.

  • I agree! I've been looking for months for one on Craigslist or yard sales with no luck. Apprarently a cheap umbrella stroller with a basket is the holy grail of strollers.

  • Totally agree. I'm on the fence about buying one since I have an uppa baby vista that cost me $700+ that I'm barely using since ds likes to walk everywhere. but at the same time it would be great for our upcoming vacay. Ps- I'm eating pancakes this morn.

  • Ours was $50 and it's decent. I wish it had a sturdier shade, but DS seems to like it.

  • I like out Chicco umbrella stroller.  It's lightweight, fully reclines, and DS seems comfortable in it.  It was around $100 after a 20% off coupon.
  • I got the $30 one from BRU and it has lasted over a year with daily use plus travelling, etc. and my now 20 month old still loves it, FWIW!

  • Check clearance sales for discontinued models.  I found a FP stroller @ BRU marked down 40% & I used a 20% coupon on it too.  I think it ended up being around $24.00.

  • We have a First Years one from Target that was $60. It reclines, has a canapy, padded seat, built in storage basket and drink holder.  Love it!
  • Dd1 loves her cheap 12 dollar one.

  • I have this one:

     https://www.amazon.com/Cosco-Umbria-Stroller-Moonstone-Dot/dp/tags-on-product/B0035RQTT6

It's not an umbrella, it folds in half, but I love it and it gets the job done.

  • We got this one off our registry:

https://sites.target.com/site/en/spot/mobile_product_detail.jsp?title=product_detail&asin=B002WB2G8Y&p=listreg (sorry no clicky, I'm on my phone)

We haven't used it yet, but it gets great reviews and only costs $40.
