Memory Foam Toppers

Any suggestions on memory foam toppers for mattresses? Between my husband having back pains and from the body aches I have every night, I think it might be time to invest in something to help. I've been considering a memory foam topper since I don't want to spend too much money on a new mattress. Any brands in particular that work well? Also, does it work if you have a pillow top on your current mattress already? Thanks for your help :)

Re: Memory Foam Toppers

  • We got one when we bought our new bed recently (pillow top sleep number) and I love it.  Keep in mind that it holds heat, so if you get hot at night, you may find it uncomfortable, or want to sleep with less covers.  We bought ours at Wal-Mart after shopping around online for a bit.  There are different thickness levels so you don't necessarily need a pillow top to enjoy the topper.  Sure hope it helps (although I have to admit a new mattress would probably be better). Good luck!

  • I don't know the brand but we bought one at costco for the bed at my parents house because its so old. It works like a charm.

You want to get something at least 2 inches thick.

  • My husband and I were looking at the ones from Costco as well....it's reasonably priced. Does it work on a pilllow top mattress though? We currently have a pillow top mattress, so I wasn't sure if the depth of the memory foam would work on top of it.

  • Just a heads up...they do retain heat...so if you are already someone who is warm when you sleep, you may not want one.

  • We just got the 3" Visco2 Ventilated Mattress Enhancer from Amazon last weekend for $126 for a queen. Love it, though it is a little harder for me to turn over sometimes. It's very comfortable and doesn't get as hot as the "egg crate" cheapo foam padding we had previously. We don't have a pillow top, so I can't speak to that.
