DD is making me pray for a sleeper this time around

Ugh, bedtime is absolutely horrible!  It has been a 1/2 hour of her screaming getting out of her bed as soon as I put her in.  Then I have to go back and put her in her bed, at which point she screams even louder.

I don't know how much longer of this I can take, it is killing me!

  • We were right there just yesterday. I was in tears and it caused me and my husband to get in a huge fight. We finally decided to put her back in her crib instead of doing the toddler bed.

  • It looks like your DD is a little young for this, but when my older DD started fighting bedtime, I took away her naps.  If she even slept for 5 minutes in the car she would fight bedtime tooth and nail!!!  Some nights she would be up until 10am crying and would still wake up at 7am!

Once I took away her naps, she goes to bed at 7pm and wakes up at 7am.  Every single night.  I've read that night time sleep ir more beneficial than daytime sleep for growth, so as long as they are getting plenty of nighttime sleep it's all good.

Although if I got rid of DD's name when she was that young, I would have lost my ever loving mind!!!  Good luck!

  • Thank you for the responses, I really appreciate it.  An hour later, I think she is finally asleep.  This is after of course she got herself so worked up that she actually threw up.  That was a first.  Hopefully it starts to get better soon!

  • We had a day like this last week - she just wouldn't nap even though she was exhausted! After trying everything for 2 hours I left her screaming in the crib for the first time ever. It couldn't have lasted longer than 10 mins, she was asleep when I got out of the shower (and slept almost 4 hours), but I felt horrible. Sleep issues are the most frustrating!

  • I feel your pain! Bedtime hasn't been bad for us, but DD has been waking up in the middle of the night again. She didn't STTN until 16 months so I am hoping it's just the canines she's getting. I don't want to start the multiple night wakings again!

  • My kids have made me question #3 a million times in the past 2 years.  Most days I think they're more than I can handle.  Indifferent  But, there's much more good than bad, KWIM?

I do KWYM.  DD really is a great kid in every other way!  If I could only get her to sleep, everything would be perfect.  I know I can handle this, it was just frustrating last night listening to her scream and not knowing what to do.

    Thanks!
