Trying to plan a b-day party for NOV. help!

OK so my son will be a year old Nov. 1st (OMG can't believe it!) It is usually cold here so any ideas about where...or what kind of food I should have? I am at a total loss right now.

I live in Wayne County (Upstate NY) help I need ideas...I want to do a Sponge Bob theme and I was thinking Nov. 5th for the date but the rest I am at a blank...

  • xkimx did chili and cornbread for her son's nov birthday. you can always order a sub tray . for my son's 1st bday i did a sub tray from wegmans, mac and cheese, little hot dogs in crescent rolls, buffalo wing dip, cheese and crackers,

you can also do pizza and wings or chicken fingers.

  • At Evan's first birthday party (which we ended up cancelling because half our family had swine flu and I didn't want to expose him OR myself since I was 8 months pregnant as well) we were going to have Beef on Weck (and reg rolls for those that don't like Weck) and baked ziti, a few salads...

For his 2nd birthday we did an airplane theme and did "Around the world" foods - and I catered a couple of items: Chicken brushetta, Lo Mein and something else that I can't remember...and then made a mexican and greek appetizer.

For Leah's first we did a brunch...which was super easy since I could so some quiches and baked goods.

Were you needing recs on a venue too or are you having it at your house? We rented a house in Mendon Ponds Park (I don't really know where that is in location to you - but is is a middle point for our families since our last house wasn't big enough)

If you google bithday party blogs - you can find a lot of ideas online...GL!

  • For Charlotte's first birthday, I am thinking about doing a few different soups, maybe a chili, something creamy, and something broth based. Then maybe some sandwiches or subs? I think we will be doing her party Oct 22, but we are keeping it small, just our parents and brothers and sisters. I had originally wanted to go all out and stuff, but being that none of our family lives in the Rochester area, it just makes it a little difficult to have everyone here.

That sounds good...I might have to call wegmans in Newark, NY and see the prices..

See your close to me, I work righ tin FAirport :) Most my family lives around me but don't really "Talk to me" and DH family is out in Clyde and DH doesn't really talk to any of them ether but his grandma and even that he is slacking on... I am going to call a few community Centers and check out some prices on my lunch brake and see about haven it at one. I can't have it at my house cause its really small 645 sq. ft. and I dont have much room for parking on a dead end street.
