There will be a baby tomorrow, but...(a little long)

It won't be how I had planned. We are scheduled for a repeat c-section tomorrow afternoon. I have had ZERO progress, not even a fingertip of dilation.

My doc is awesome, and I totally trust him. I asked if we could hold off, and he said we could, but that in his experience someone at this stage with no signs of labor either ends up with an induction or a c/s. I'm not a good candidate for an induction because of my previous c-section. I pushed back on this and said that there is still a 90% chance that I could be induced and not rupture. He agreed, but he said an induced labor would not be the labor would not be what I wanted anyway. I would be stuck in a bed, hooked up to machines, most likely end up with an epidural, and still possibly need a c/s. I wanted a totally med-free birth, and that would not be it for me given my history. Originally the doc wanted to do it on Friday, but they could not get me in. They did an NST and u/s, and with her fluid levels, they don't think it's a good idea to wait until Monday, so tomorrow it is.

I've had my cry (a few actually). I feel like my body is a failure. I needed medicine to get pregnant (both times) and now I again need medicine to not be pregnant. It's hard to give up my vision of how this sweetheart would be born, but this is life, and we will welcome her any way she comes!

Good luck with your c-section!

I completely understand how you're feeling and would probably feel the same way. I'm hoping to do a med-free labor and delivery too... but I guess in the end so much is out of our control and all you can hope for is a healthy and happy baby.

I'm sorry you may not experience it how you envisioned but try to focus on meeting your little girl and how special that moment will feel when she is out in the world

I wish things went as we planned them. I wish our bodies weren't broken and functioned as they should. Nevertheless, you are having your girl, baby Tessa. While I understand and sympathize with you I do hope you reach a point in which you find some peace in regards to how she will arrive. I pray she is healthy and that your delivery exceeds all of your expectations.

Oh, Jen, you're right, it's not the way you imagined but as long as you both are healthy that's what matters. I'm sure once you're holding your sweet Tessa in your arms it won't matter!!

but it's great that you have a lot of trust in your doctor. He's going to do what's right for you and Tessa. Just keep focused on how amazing it is going to be to finally hold your baby girl. Have a great night w/ your family and I can't wait to see pics of your little one!!!

Oh I'm so sorry you're upset

it's completely understandable. I kind of think all we IFers hope that since we weren't able to get pregnant on our own, we'll be able to go into labor on our own. But even though your body might not be doing that, it has done the incredible task of growing FOUR beautiful children and that is amazing! I know you already know this but sometimes it's nice to hear it from someone else

I'll be thinking of you tomorrow and keeping you in my T&Ps. Can't wait to hear how everything goes. So excited for you!!

i'm sorry that it won't happened as you hoped it would. however, i must say your body is the exact opposite of a failure - you carried your baby to full term!

I can totally relate. Both my kiddos are injects babies, plus DD1 came 6 weeks early by C-section, so I definitely feel like my body's already failed me. I was hoping to go med-free last time and am hoping for a med-free VBAC this time, but I'm finding it really difficult to trust that my body can do something right for once. It really sucks, and I have no advice, just wanted to offer some sympathy and say GL!
