Convertible Car Seat Rec's?

Looking at Britax but open to suggestions.  We have a Honda Pilot and a VW Jetta 1.8T if that helps based on sizing.

Re: Convertible Car Seat Rec's?

  • I have a Britax in my car and I like it. Its big but would be find in a Pilot.

We have this one in my husbands truck and we love it, probably better than the Britax because DS looks more comfortable in it.

  • We have the Britax Roundabout 50 in our '07 Toyota Camry, and a First Years True Fit in our '99 Honda CR-V.

I like them both, but prefer the True Fit because you can adjust the straps (or remove the cover) without unthreading them, and the straps are softer/more pliable. Also, the weight limit is higher (65 lbs vs. 50 in the Britax), which means we can use it for a good while.

  • We have two of the Safety 1st Alpha Omega Elite and I like them a lot. Seems very comfy for DD. It goes up to 100 pounds, although I hope she's not in a booster at 100 pounds!

My parents use the Evenflo Triumph Advance and I've heard no complaints from them about it.

All were under $150 with coupons. I just couldn't fathom spending that much on a Britax.

We bought two of these at Costco ($90 each), but have since read reviews saying that these are hard to get installed correctly.  Have you had any issue with this?  We also heard that if you use a pool noodle under the seat, then you are able to get the correct levelness for the infant seat.

  • We ended up with the Britax Advocate.  It doesn't have the re-threading issue with the straps and goes up to 40lbs RF and 70lbs FF.  I don't mind spending the $$ on something that is for safety...not that more money equals more safe but the reviews are amazing.  Thanks for everyones input! :)

DH didn't complain about install, but did say that making it forward facing was easier than rear facing. We also don't have it the correct level rear facing, but never had problems with that.
