2nd Trimester

book suggestions

This is my first pregnancy - 170 days to go!.  I have read and re-read What to Expect When you're Expecting already and will probably continue to re-read as I go....LOL  I've also read Belly Laughs! - TOO FUNNY.  I was wondering if anyone out there had any suggestions for good pre-natal literature and even any I should read after the baby arrives.  Thank you :)

Re: book suggestions

  • I loved The Girlfriends Guide to Pregnancy and Your pregnancy week by week!

  • I second the recommendation of 'Your Pregnancy Week by Week', that has been my favourite so far.

Actually, my favourite book is this pregnancy book from the  early 90's my friend got me called 'Conception, Pregnancy and Birth'  It looks like they've redone it and modernised it, but I love this old copy my friend gave me. It's got pictures of naked women throughout stages of their pregnancy and is just upfront about stuff. I don't know what the new one is like.

  • My booklist....

Ina May?s Guide to Childbirth- Ina May Gaskin (Good for an accurate description of what your body does during a routine labor & very positive birth stories in multiple settings.  However you decide you want to give birth, this is GREAT for mentally preparing yourself for labor).

     Our Babies, Ourselves- Meredith Small

The Thinking Woman?s Guide to a Better Birth- Henci Goer (goes over questions for birth)

Pushed- Jennifer Block (talks a lot about the medical model of care and rise of cesarean sections)

*So That?s What They?re For!- Janet Tamaro (very funny & practical take on breastfeeding)

The Vaccine Book-  Dr. Robert Sears (pretty balanced and decent introduction to the vaccination issue)

The Happiest Baby on the Block-Harvey Karp

    FWIW, I'm a Librarian.  Lol, I read. A LOT. ;)

    Hope these help :)

A good Pdf on proper babywearing techniques:
