wwyd?

So I told administration today that I'm pregnant.  I'm glad I got that over with.  But now I don't know what to do about my co-worker.  I don't want to hurt her feelings.

I sort of befriended this co-worker last school year and she struggles with infertility.  She wants children but can't seem to have any of her own.  I don't know all the details of her situation or how long she has been on this path.  She has pretty much given up hope.  It is not like we do stuff outside of work together.  So, here is my situation.  How do I out myself without hurting her?  Should I email her or tell her face to face?  She isn't on my team so I won't be working with her directly this year but I still don't want any hard feelings.

Re: wwyd?

  • I would email her to tell her. This way if she does get upset she can do it privately.

  • Having gone thru struggles TTC, I would say don't single her out.  If you email a group of co-workers, then include her.  But if you tell everyone else in person and send her an email, it's just going make her feel singled out about the situation, imo.
