Pregnant after 35

Hi from a newbie

My husband and I just found out we are expecting #4!  We are excited and I'm a little nervous since I haven't done this in almost 9 years and I'll be 37 in four days.  I have my first appointment on Aug 15th.  Not sure what to expect this time around since I'm over 35.

  • Welcome, and congratulations!  Usually all it means is you are offered more testing options.  :)

  • Congrats and welcome! Probably not much different from last time you did it other than the "advanced maternal age" stamp :)

  • Welcome and congrats. I expected all kinds of medical hoopla when I was pregnant with Maddie because I was 38 when I conceived. It really wasn't any different except I chose to have an amnio.

  • Congratulations and welcome. Yes, some extra testing has been offered but this us my 2nd AMA pregnancy and treated no different by my MW.
  • At age 41 (my OB likes to call it just an age some Dr came up with and I can keep having more babies) I was offered a few more different test then I did when I had my pregnancies.

  • Hi and welcome from another newbie! I am 37 (38 next month) and we are expecting our 7th in April. There is a 6 year gap between my last baby and the one before him and I found that I got *A LOT* more ultrasounds. I also never had genetic counseling before and that was a bit off putting. Otherwise, pretty much the same. Congrats to you and Daddy!
