my second FET question: medicated or unmedicated?

I don't have my consult for another week and a half, so i'm just information gathering at this point.

  • Medicated. I was given the choice and wanted to "do" something!
    Married 08.06
    Started TTC 05.08
Me: Stage II endo, borderline high FSH
    DH: perfect
    1 lap, 5 IUIs = 4 BFNs and 1 c/p
    2 IVFs, 2 FETs = 1 BFN, 1 c/p, 1 ectopic and finally a sticky BFP in May 2011!

    1 FET in Aug 2013 = BFP!

  • I had to do medicated and I think most REs prefer medicated because there is more control involved.

  • 1st FET - medicated.

I get ridiculously sick on lupron and am convinced this had something to do with IVF#1 and FET#1 both being a BFN.

So, FET# 2 was unmedicated and I felt a million times better going into the ET.
As PP mentioned, there is more risk involved, if you ovulate on your own, your cycle would be cancelled. To me, it was worth the risk, but I think most RE's like to try a medicated cycle. I only really did unmedicated based on the previous cycles not working, so we wanted to try something different.

    Good Luck!

  • I had an unmedicated FET - which I do not recommend at all - you still have to take some medications - but unlike with a medicated FET - where they control everything - with unmedicated you just have to wait for you body to do everything - and wait and wait - mine took forever and I had to keep going back for monitoring appointments.  But I will say it worked for me!!
