3rd Trimester

For the ladies who have swollen hands, feet, and legs..

is your blood pressure going up as well? I know they're sometimes connected but not always. I had an appointment today and my blood pressure was 130/76. I asked what my blood pressure was at the two previous appointments and on July 20, it was 124/68 and July 6th, it was 102/64. It's definitely getting higher and higher. I NEVER have high blood pressure, so it's a little concerning. My doctor just wants to keep an eye on me. She said if it gets to be too high, they will induce at 37 weeks or later. Eek.

ETA: Sorry, I meant to post this on the September board, but I'll just leave it here.

  • I'm super swollen and have been for weeks. However, my blood pressure has dropped the last three weeks at appointments.

  • I normally have pretty low pressure, too, but it has been creeping up. My doc said it's normal to increase throughout the course of the pregnancy. My systolic is still slightly under 130 but yours doesn't sound excessively high yet. He also said my swelling may seem like a lot for me but that it's definitely not excessive, so as long as my urine looks ok there's nothing to worry about.

  • Mines was 135 over 88 and I never had a problem wmy pressure, I guess b/c ive been stressing && alil to sensentive. I had an appointment last week thursday && now i have to go back tomorrow for them to see if im okai.

But the baddest part about it all my wrist feels like its broken && it soo swollen my hands and fingers hurt as well. Badd pain forreal :(

  • I don't know that they're related. I've been so swollen some days I can't wear shoes (seriously, even flip-flops cut into my puffy feet) but my bp, which is always low, has been lower than ever the last few weeks. Just follow your dr.'s instructions, try to relax and get your feet up, avoid salty stuff, drink lots of water, and go back in if you have any of the symptoms they warned you about.

  • My blood pressure was getting pretty bad (like 156/90), but I wasn't having a lot of swelling.  Now, my poor fingers look like sausages if I'm outside for more than 10 minutes, but my blood pressure is great.  I honestly think the HBP was just white coat syndrome, because all the bloodwork came back normal.

  • I get some swelling in my hands and feet, and my blood pressure at my last appointment was 80/42! So, yeah, it's not always a blood pressure thing. I always have very low bp, but pregnancy seems to drop it even more (does the same thing to my blood sugar, so I guess I am just Opposite Woman).
