Feeding question

How much and how often do your LO eat?  My sitter has only been feeding Wesley 2x in 9 hour period, she says he doesnt seem hungry. But when he is with me (BF) he wants to eat every 3 hours on the dot.  Just wondering what others are doing

Re: Feeding question

  • Baby nurses with you, and then how long till he gets a bottle?  Then, how long till the 2nd bottle?

In general, yes, my DS will eat a little less often when I'm not around.  But we've had a lot of trouble getting him to take a bottle from the nanny till recently.  I think he wants to wait for me.

  • I nurse him around 6:45ish in the morning before dropping him off at daycare.  They have been feeding him three 6 oz bottles in the 9 hours he is there. He's also had a little 3 oz bottle late in the afternoon to tide him over til I can pick him up.

I believe he eats around 9:30 - 10:00, again around noon, and then around 2:30-3:00.  He's a hungry little guy!

  • My girls don't eat much when I'm not around.  This is a big concern for me, and I keep hoping that as they get more used to me being back at work, they will start to eat more.  On Monday they only ate 12 oz. combined, and I was gone for about 8 hours.  Yesterday they ate a little more, but not much.  They are still having plenty of wet/dirty diapers and appear to be growing well, so I haven't freaked out about it yet.  We have a pedi appt. next week, so I'll talk to her about it then.

Also, they've been waking up more frequently to eat at night, so I think they might be reverse cycling.

  • I nurse at 5:30 AM, then she gets a 4oz bottle at 8:30, 11:30, and 2:30.  Then I nurse her at 5 and then around 8.  She'll sleep from 8:30 - 5:30.

I'm pretty sure she takes more then 4 oz when she nurses, but she's not acting hungry and she's growing so I'm not worried.

  • We're in the same boat.  I think she eats twice when I'm not there, probably 6 oz each time? And then it's every two hours when I'm home (BF).
