I have hardly lost any of the weight I gained while pregnant. Obviously the first 20lbs were super easy because my kid was 1/2 of that (9#15oz). But I am struggling with figuring out the best way to shed the rest. It has been 8 mos and I am frustrated. Has anyone lost it all?
Re: baby weight
I also have about 15 pounds to go after 11 months. I lost nearly 20 in the first four months then hit a plateau and am just now beginning to lose it again. This is my first but I am also an older Mom (I turned 40 3 months after DD was born).
Good luck and know there are many there in the same boat with you.
I lost the first big amount right away ...the last 10 lbs took an extra few months. I was back to PP weight when DS was about 9 or 10 months old I think. I didn't 'diet' - just watched what I ate (portion size, plus I eat pretty healthy most of the time too) and I also try to get out and get exercise daily - even just walking with the baby if I didn't have time for anything else.
GL .. everyone loses weight at their own pace. Don't be too hard on yourself
I used to be small Pre -preg, about 117 pounds. I have never ever gotten back to that weight - one time whlie dieting and a flu I got down to 123, but I've been about 128 naturally.
I had to wait until the kids both were about 18 months before I could even find the time to diet and exercise.
Easter 2011
This makes me feel so much better!
I put on 62 [yeah, shocked the he!! out of myself with that] because I had to abandon a very active lifestyle but I didn't abandon the eating habits that used to go with it. It took me 12 months to lose about 50 lbs, through exercise and overhauling my nutrition. I actually ended up eating a Paleo diet after I couldn't lose a thing with Weight Watchers, which had previously worked for me. [Google Paleo if interested - mainly, no grains, no dairy].
The last 12 lbs have stuck on, and I'm on another kick now to shed them. I will say that in the last couple of months, things seem to have "settled" and old clothes are fitting better. It's almost as if my tummy area had still been swollen and finally calmed? I did have a csection. Anyway, there is hope. I remind myself it didn't go on instantly and it won't come off instantly. My lower tummy will likely never be the same, but I hope I can at least get it close enough that clothes can cover the difference
I weighed in at 204 (which was a gain of 41lbs) when I was checked into the hospital. My LO was 9#15oz, so I lost 20lbs right away. But the last 20lbs have lingered. I discovered last night that my attitude about being able to do it had to change. I am pretty knowledgeable about fitness routines and I have been a fit person for most of my life, so why wouldn't I just do it. right? What I also realized was that I am actually only 15lbs from pre pregnancy weight. I just kept rounding up to 180 instead of counting the 2 lbs btw 180 and 178 as a success. Basically, my attitude sucked. I had always had the easiest time losing, especially in my belly, which was never a flabby part of my body. I have determined that I will absolutely not use a fad diet or specialty diet because I need to eat the way I want my LO to learn to eat. I also have begun to work out during the first nap of the day. One of my biggest issues is giving myself the time to remain sane. I put everyone and everything first all the time, and I lose out on things for myself. So, here goes, my bump-friends, I am on the road to health. The right way. Eat less, eat the right stuff, and exercise!
