Anyone else not in maternity pants yet?

In first tri all I heard people talk about was being in maternity pants early just because of the bloat and then staying in them in second tri as they started to show. I thought I would be in them by now since I was about 15 lbs overweight when I got pregnant.

I bought a bella band recently but don't use it all the time, I am showing where people are commenting as well. I'm wondering if because I was heavier my normal pants are somehow better equipped to last me longer? Haha, I know this all sounds silly. I've even gained 12 lbs so far.

So I don't feel weird, anyone else not in maternity pants yet? Or when did you make the switch over to maternity clothing?

Re: Anyone else not in maternity pants yet?

  • I am not wearing maternity clothes yet.  I do wear the Bella Band w/almost all of my pants  though.  After seeing all the bump pics in the post below, I feel like my bump is waaaay smaller than most of the other ladies :/

  • No maternity clothing or bella bands for me so far.  I can still where my pants comfortably.  I did buy a shirt (the one in my bump pic today) at walmart but only because I was walking by and thought it was cute.  It was actually in the jrs section but I got it in an XXL and I've got plenty of room to grow in it.  I'm really holding out as long as possible because I know I'm going to need them when it's cold and I don't want to waste money and time looking for some that I'd only wear a month.

  • I can still squeeze into my low rise jeans but I find maternity pants so much more comfy.

Consider yourself lucky if you haven't had to get any maternity pants they are kind of pricey. I went shopping for maternity capri's and didn't find any worth spending the money on, especially if I probably only have another month to wear them before I switch to long pants.

  • Nope. I was with my first pregnancy, but this one is carrying in a very different manner. Maternity pants are just falling down when I try wearing them. Right now, I pretty much live in a few dresses and yoga pants (I'm a SAHM). I do have a few tight maternity tanks I wear, but I'm mostly still in the non-maternity clothing I have from before my first pregnancy.

  • That's a good idea! I have this fear that one day I'm just not going to fit into anything, even with the bella band and I'll have to scramble for clothes, haha. I live in a small town and am still hunting for maternity clothes, but don't have the sense of urgency yet because everything still fits.

  • I have one pair of work pants that still fit without a bella band.  Most maternity pants slide right down (except for the type with a draw string, but they are too casual for the office), and I find the bella band to be uncomfortable, so I've mostly been wearing dresses to work.  I'm hoping I'll be able to wear them into early fall so that I won't have to spend too much more on winter clothes, but we'll see.  My shirts are mostly maternity at this point.  At home I live in athletic shorts or yoga pants and big old t-shirts.

  • I can still wear most of my jeans since they fit below the waist, but I'm using maternity for dress pants.

BTW:  Maternity jeans are the best.thing.ever.

  • I'm still in all my regular clothes. I keep trying on maternity stuff and I look ridiculous (my DH laughed at me). I looked like a little girl playing dress up in her moms clothes...so I sit and wait.
  • I fit into almost everything until about 2-3 weeks ago. I can still fit into my tops and some jeans but found some maternity pants that don't look maternity that are just darn comfy :P I've done the belly band with my jeans but didn't work so well. I like low ride jeans and I was always terrified they were gonna just fall down :P My husband loves the fact that I've finally gained some weight :P He thought I was too thin before. Me I just feel uncomfortable and self-conscious.

  • I am kind of in between. I am carrying high, and short-waisted, so I always wore low rise pants to begin with. They sit below the bump. The only trouble is, they are uncomfortable when I sit, so I have to unbutton. I have some maternity pants and I do prefer them hands-down.

  • Funny to read this today of all days. I have been wearing skirts to work every day (more comfy and its been really hot). However, today I woke up thinking maybe just maybe, I could see if my regular khaki's fit and they did. Just in case I brought the unopened bella band that I have yet to use in case it gets too much later in the day. The only maternity bottoms I have worn are my jean capris which are still a bit big and sort of slowly sag down, forcing me to pull them up!
  • I still can wear all of my regular jeans/pants, but I have to wear the beband or use the hair band trick.  they are a little more snug in the hips and butt as well.

I bought a pair of maternity jeans but haven't worn them yet, but I do have a pair of maternity capris that I wear all the time.

Just be patient I'll bet you will "pop" one day all of a sudden.

  • I was doing okay with the Bella Band until a couple weeks ago - then the pants started creeping down because my hips have "widened" so I can't pull them up as far. But man do I love maternity pants. I started a new job with a totally different dress code last week, so it forced my shopping hand.

I have heard of women using the Bella Band with maternity pants to hold them up if they're still a little too big. Might be worth a try.

  • I feel like my bump looks like I'm 7 months but ironically I can still fit into some work pants- must use the Beband though... there is no zipping up or buttoning but I can get them on and up :) Everything else is maternity bottoms unless the Beband will do :)

  • I'm holding out as long as possible! Still wearing normal clothes, but mostly dresses and skirts. My low rise jeans still work though. I'm just starting to pop, so it's probably not going to last much longer, I'll enjoy it while I can!

  • I can fit into only a couple of my low rise jeans. I can still wear all my normal shirts. I just bought maternity pants the other day & Loooooooove them so much more! The band on the pants makes my bump look so polished and cute.
  • I feel like I have a decent sized bump but I can still wear the few pairs of pants I have that are low rise. After having DS#1 I gave up on low rise pants since they just looked terrible but I have a few pairs left that I can definitely still fit in they just arent as flattering as the maternity pants are so I only wear maternity.

I wear a lot of my non-maternity dresses and regular shirts are just now starting to look a little short and not as flattering so I am mostly in maternity for that too. I started out a little fluffy (size 16) so I fully embrace the bump because if I didn't I would definitely look fat (IMO). Maternity definitely makes me look more pregnant vs the whole is she or isnt she? and is WAY more comfortable especially since I am chasing my 17 month old around.

  • I haven't tried my regular pants in weeks.  I have a pair of maternity gaucho pants from ON that I wear all the time, but when I need to be presentable I have a couple of regular-size skirts and dresses that work well at this stage.  I am mostly wearing regular shirts, since my usual tops are not too fitted.  I need maternity pants now but I want to wait on buying maternity shirts until the weather cools off if I can.

  • My Bella Band/BeBand works for all my old pants.  I can still wear most of my old skirts without any assistance.  I did buy one pair of maternity pants, but it tends to fall down and then I have to use the BeBand to keep it up.

  • I'm still wearing all my normal clothes all the time-- no bella band/hair tie either. I've actually lost about 12 lbs so far (and not from sickness!) and while I feel like my tummy is definitly bigger, everything still fits just fine. I'm glad because like some people have said, maternity clothes are expensive and I know I'll have to eventually buy some in the fall/winter for work and cooler weather.

  • I have only bought one maternity shirt and that was only because it was so cute, not because it was necessary yet. I've never been a fan of maternity clothes. With DD, I just bought my jeans in a size bigger and wore them the whole time. So far with this pregnancy, I have used the BeBand from Target and it's working just fine. It's also summertime now, so I wear a lot of maxi dresses!

  • I have really been wearing skirts and dresses for the most part. No maternity pants yet but I think that is coming to an end! I will go shopping for some cute cumfy pants before going on vaca next week.
