Even before we got married DH and I said we wanted 3 kids. I think the first time we actually talked about it was after pre-marriage counseling through our church and we both had been thinking 3 without ever saying it. We are both from families with 3 kids, so maybe that's why it just feels like the right number for us. Plus, we want to avoid a minivan and you can get 3 across many regular cars lol!
DH and I both have always said we want two, even when we were dating. We say that we want two for sure, and then we'll reevaluate 3 years after number two is born (if we are that fortunate). If we can afford the third (college savings, lessons, etc), then we'll try for that. But that could all change after (if) we have number two. Ha.
When DH and I were dating we talked about how many we wanted. We agreed three was a good number for us. He'd have four if I wanted to, but I think three is good.
I have to add that if I was guaranteed a girl on the fourth, I'd do it. But I know I'm not that lucky. : )

I have a minivan, and I have 2 backless boosters and a convertible (Britax) in my backseat right now (I'm carpooling my friends's kids for a few days) and it is NOT comfortable at all, and it was VERY hard to get them across the row..........

A couple of weeks after ds2 was here. He was in his swing and he was such an easy newborn. I had this moment where I was like, I get it why having more than one is awesome. At that point I knew I wanted 3. And we will consider adopting a fourth.

To answer your question, we wanted 4. We feel done now at 3 kids for many reasons. I mean, we "could" have a 4th, and if I got PG again, we wouldn't be upset, but it would put our life "on hold" again and emotionally, we're done with the 3...........(for other reasons too).

We always said we wanted two maybe (a big maybe for DH) three. We were blessed to have twins so we went to a family of four very quickly!
I really would love a third but DH is really happy with two. We are looking into buying a larger house next summer and we will have the talk again after we settle in.

We still don't know. We both think that we want to have 3, with adopting the 3rd. But we will have to see where we are financially in a few years and see how difficult or easy of a time we have TTC #2.

I don't really remember ever specifically talking about how many we'd have. I know dh wanted at least 2 though. We have 2 now and I think we'd both like a 3rd but a lot of factors...money/age/school/house are keeping us from it. I'll be done with school when I'm 35 but that would mean are 2 youngest are 7 years apart and I don't really want that big of a space.
I better know...I'm fixed. We mostly went by the room we have in our house (we built it and the developed the 4 acres we're on for our yard/eventual shop use). 4 bedrooms=3 kids. The only exception is when I was pg with DD#2 and we weren't sure if she was a girl or not. If she had been a boy we may have tried for another....
Growing up, I wanted 7. When my husband and I talked about having kids, he said he was good with 5. 5 is what we are thinking today. After this one is born we plan to wait a few years and then have two more.
Plus, we want to avoid a minivan and you can get 3 across many regular cars lol!

Yeah, three across is even less ideal once they're no longer little kids. The nice thing about a van is the ability to separate them. I can't imagine the fighting if they were all crammed on top of each other.
We are pretty certain we will have a third in another year or so. If we have a third, we might have a fourth. I think pulling the trigger from two to three will be harder when the time comes than deciding on a fourth. Everything seems to be set up for a family of four and the logistics of adding one more to the mix intimidates me a bit.
We both always said we wanted two. We both have 1 brother each, and having a family of 4 seems to be manageable. We ended up with twins for our 1st pregnancy so we're quite sure we're done but you never know.
After 2 years, Injects, PCOS diagnosis and 2 IUI's, we were blessed with our beautiful twin girls! Baby Girl #3!

This is true. My kids are separated, but since I'm doing a favor for a friend and dropping her 2 kids along with my girls to camp, I've squished everyone in! LOL!

We originally talked about having two or three. However, lately I feel like I am happy with just one. DH is not sold on that idea yet, so we'll continue talking through it and see how we feel later on.
ETA: I feel like I am in the minority with just feeling like one is enough. Not here on TB, but IRL, people are always telling me I cannot have just one. People seem to like telling me how many children is best for my family
Our first baby girl, Lucia Joy, joined us on April 1, 2010!
I have always wanted 2. DH wanted 2. We considered stopping after DD but I started getting baby fever when she was 2.5 ish. I do not love being pregnant and i don't love the newborn/ infant stage so I'm excited to be done with that whole thing soon and get our 'new normal' life.
I am such a wishy washy person about so much in life that it's nice to feel so certain about something butI know it'sa tough decision for a lot of people.
We always knew that we wanted at least two. Now that we have them, we go back and forth on having a third. My husband is more resistant to the idea than I am. I can list at least five great reasons to stop at two, but there's just something inside of me that says our family is not complete yet.
I still don't know. We always said we wanted 3-4, probably 3--and it makes me sad to think of only going through it all once--but right now even just with two we have no money or energy left to think about adding another, and I'm already 35, so ... we'll see.

Seriously? I was 8 and instead of one baby doll I had a whole ton of them that I cared for as siblings.
If my son hadn't died 10 years ago stalling the wanting to have more kids idea for that long I would probably have 8. Seriously.
