Dr's office not open yet, so how tylenol do I give my 22.5 pound 23 month old DD? I have not given her tylenol is about a year-so I know the dose has changed,
We dont' give DS tylenol but Motrin so I'm not sure if it would be the same measurement. But for DS we do 3/4 teaspoon. I forget how many ml that is but it should say on the syringe.
And this thread illustrates a couple of the reasons Tylenol is changing their formulas and dosages when they actually start making Tylenol again. From what I've heard infant Tylenol and children's Tylenol will be the same strength so there will be one dose.
1. You got dosage answers for both infant Tylenol and children's Tylenol.
2. Not publishing dosages for infants just leads to frustrated parents and babies who have to wait for medicine while their parents have to jump through hoops to track down the proper dosage.
I actually got a bottle of infant Little Fevers brand of Tylenol. The dropper doesn't even have the .4 and .8ml marks on it. Their 2-3 year dosage is 2.0 ml and the dropper has .25, .5, .75 and 1.0ml marks on it. Of course I opened it and discovered this while LO was screaming in pain. Are they trying to make it as hard as possible to safely dose our children?
This is not meant in any way shape or form to be a criticism of any of you guys. This is a major criticism of the drug companies. Trying to cover their butts and limit liability, they've made it so much harder for us.
I am so confused. How much is in a dropper? Are you guys talking infant or children's Tylenol?
That's my point!
I don't really know anything about the droppers. We used the infant kind when he was really little because we got it as a gift. DH is a pharmacist. We always used the children's kind and he would dose it to Grant's weight.

Infant acetaminophen is concentrated. It is 160mg. per 1.6ml (2 droppers)
Children's tylenol is a suspension. It is 160mg. per 5ml (1 tsp.) It does not come with a dropper.
MOST infant acetaminophen is concentrated that way. The Little Fever's brand is concentrated differently. It's 160mg per 2.0mL (which is 2 of their droppers)
Re: how much tylenol?
I give DD 0.8ml of tylenol. She's around the same weight as your LO.
.08ml is typically when they are under 20lbs...or so I thought.
You might be right. There's nothing on the label for children in our LOs age/weight range so I just went with .08ml.
We were told we can give him 1 tsp now.
Chart from my pedi's office for Acetaminophen
under 13# is 1/2 dropper
13-20# is 1 dropper (.8)
21-26# is 1 1/2 droppers
27-35# is 2 droppers
36-43# is 3 droppers
When DD was born we were given a copy of the Dr. Sears charts for Tylenol and Mortrin. You can find the chart here:
https://www.askdrsears.com/topics/medicine-cabinet/acetaminophen
(Sorry) not clicky
According to the chart two droppers full (1.6 mL) of infant Tylenol is good for a 22 pound baby.
