Any Canadian mommies on this board? EI?

My DD is 10mths and we are planning to TTC again beginning this month (so we may or may not make 2u2.)

Just wondering if there are any Can mommies on this board and how EI works. I understand you need to work 600 hours to qualify for EI again and I want to make sure I do that. I'm going back to work Sept 26 but taking 7 weeks vacation. I have been told by my HR rep that these weeks will count toward the 600 hours but for some reason I am still nervous. Anyone have any additional insight for me?

     I would just get a second opinion from a different EI rep.

    You need to work 600 hours in the last 5 months (which I think works out to just over parttime?)

    The thing I don't know (and maybe you do) is whether the pay is an average of the last five months (the 600/600+ hours) or if they look at your last couple paycheques to figure out the $$ you get. Do you know?

    I just went back this week. I'm not sure about the vacation time. I guess I just assumed that you had to physically work those hours. Whenever I called, I'd get a different answer from different people. Maybe just call to get another opinion. I just looked it up in the info book I have and it didn't mention anything about it. Sorry.

    You have to physically work those hours so vacation doesn't count.  You have 52 weeks, or just work them anytime between your last claim and the new one.  As for pay, they will use the average of your 600 hours.

    Daughter #1 - February 12, 2010 

    natural m/c March 11, 2011 at 8 1/2 weeks 

    Daughter #2 - January 11, 2012 

    Ectopic pregnancy discovered November 6, 2012 at 6 weeks

    Daughter #3 - January 19, 2014

    Started our exploration into the world of international adoption June 2012.  We have no idea what this is going to look like but we are excited to find out!
