Scariest thing ever!

I put DS down for a nap earlier in his crib and after about 45 minutes his AngelCare monitor went off!  I rushed to the nursery and he was indeed not breathing, or if he was is was so shallow that the monitor didn't pick it up and I couldn't see his chest rise and fall.  I put my hand on him and shook him slightly, he startled and started breathing.  I scooped him up, bawled hysterically and then called the pedi. I'm wondering if he has some sort of apnea or something since when I touched him he startled and started breathing again.  We're going to the dr tomorrow afternoon.  I'm sure we won't be sleeping much tonight, DH and I will probably be hovering over him all night.  That was the most terrifying thing ever!

  • I would be so scared! T&Ps for your appt! Hopefully it was just a one time deal and never happens again. Please keep us updated!
  • Oh my goodness I would have freaked out. Glad your LO is ok. I hope your Dr. can give you some insight as to why it happened. Try not to stress out to much about it.

  • Thank God for the monitor! That is terrible and so scary. I hope tomorrow's appointment goes well and it was just a one-time fluke.

  • Very scary! We have the same monitor, but just moved LO to his crib this weekend.  We aren't using the pad yet (just audio), because I didn't think I could deal with any false alarms the first few days in.  I think we'll start using it soon.

I know the feeling!! I bought the Snuza which clips on the diaper and the alarm went off twice lastnight, I never jumped outta bed so quick!! I'm not sure if DS stopped breathing or if it was a false alarm from him wiggling and the sensor didnt have a proper reading.. I definetely lost a couple years of my life from that experience. lol
