Ok, so I saw an Ergo backpack and Beco backpack at the zoo yesterday and decided I must have one for Disney (when we go in two weeks). Which one would you recommend and why? For now, it would either be my 10-month-old or my 2.5-year-old in it so I'd probably be wearing it on my back. DD#1 is only 24 lbs and loves piggy backs (but isn't the best about holding on) so we could use it with either of the girls for a while. Any recommendations? The Beco ones are cuter but someone at the zoo swore by her Ergo. Thanks!

Having owned and used both, hands down I recommend the Beco Butterfly (see my post below - they're on clearance, so similar price to the ergo now!)
Things I like about my beco (over the ergo):
- easier for me to use b/c there are inserts (both infant and older baby/toddler/preschooler sizes) built in that allows you to put DC in the carrier first, then "swing" them up onto your back (or front). With the ergo, your child has to be cooperative enough to stay on your back while you put the carrier around them somewhat - DS was too squirmy and I always felt like I was going to drop him.
- You can unbuckle the waist belt with DC in the beco and they are completely secure in the carrier (nice when you're in a yucky public bathroom and don't want to remove DC while going to the bathroom, or if the carrier pushes your pants down, you can unbuckle, adjust then rebuckle w/o disturbing DC - lol).
- I found the carrier easier to adjust for a custom fit. I'm petite and the ergo never fit properly - the beco is designed for a larger range of body types/sizes (on both the petite and taller end).
- Fabrics are so much prettier, and in our house collect less pet hair - lol.
- Overall, found it more comfortable and easier to use. Folds a bit smaller/less bulky.
I also like the sleeping hood better on the beco (less of an issue for toddlers, but nice if you want to use it with a younger child).
I sound like a commercial for them... but I love them (and was one who swore by my ergo before trying the beco... I didn't know any better yet!)
They're clearing out their stock of the original beco butterfly carriers at tendercargo.com (there's now a new version with a removable infant insert, instead of it being permanently attached - new fabrics, too). So I think the sale lasts until their stock is gone (so not sure, I guess).
It really is a great carrier - it's one you may actually end up using b/c it's so comfy
