How many of you went for your gender U/S and could not find out what the gender was due to position?

I pray that my little baby is positioned right next week so we can finally know if its a he or a she!!

The entire ultrasound the baby crossed her legs. I even drank OJ like people say to to get baby moving. Finally at the end the Tech said she would bet 80% its a girl because she hadn't seen even a glimpse of a penis the whole time. I think she only guessed cause she knew DH was leaving and not able to come home for awhile. Then 10 seconds after she gave us a guess the baby spread her legs. Even though we all saw the 3 "girl" lines she still only raised it to 85% certainity. Hopefully your tech is patient ours took an hour at least so if she doens't rush through it hopefully the baby will move enough to see it

OJ, huh? Glad that I posted this because I was unaware that it is a good idea to drink OJ. So do I just drink a glass right before the appointment?

Our little guy had his legs crossed for about 1/2 the appt. With some jiggling, though, he finally moved and we were able to see that he is a boy. Definitely suggest the OJ. I had a bit of caffeine before going and LO wouldn't stop moving. So avoid the caffeine, but a bit of sugar does make them more active.

There's no such thing as a gender scan, it's called an anatomy scan. They check numerous things about the baby, the least important being the sex of the baby. I know most people want to find out and are upset if baby doesn't cooperate, but keep in mind you're hoping for a healthy baby at the anatomy scan.

I think we all knew what she meant by "gender scan" and I'm also sure she knows the most important part of the a/s is to make sure that the baby is healthy.

Of course it's very exciting and you want to know the sex! I have read over and over about the orange juice but I'm not sure it's necessary, I forgot to eat before I went for my scan this morning because I was too busy trying to get my son packed up to drop off with a babysitter and we were able to tell with no problem. The only time I tried drinking juice and eating sugar before an ultrasound was for my elective u/s with my son, it backfired and he moved too much to get a good look, the tech spent over an hour before she found the sex- I'm not sure the OB's office would have bothered taking that much time. good luck!

I think this is what happened at my 17 week U/S.... the tech made a "guess" but asked us not to bank on it because baby kept moving and his/her behind was pretty far away from the wand so yeah....

We have another this Thursday, and if all goes as planned I am SURE we will find out then!!!

We are certainly hoping to find out next wed but if for some reason we can't then I guess we'll just wait until the birth....with my dd she had her legs closed for most of the appt but finally opened her legs and showed us that she was a girl. If we can't find out I know I will be disappointed but we won't be getting additional u/s to find out.

First of all I do not care whether or not I have a boy or girl. The most important thing to me is that my baby is perfectly healthy. However, I am really looking forward to finding out the gender so I can plan for this baby. It's my first and I am super excited. Second, I know that it is not called a "gender" scan, but I do know that a lot of the girls on this board talk about it like it is and would know what I was talking about. Thanks, but I really didn't need your 2 cents.
