So I did a huge "pregnancy brain" moment the other day... thank God we had the money for it. While paying bills instead of sending $125 to my credit card company I sent $1,250.00.... That was our money for the two homes we own in the third month of FMLA.... OOPS
Only good thing was it was my discover card which send those checks every month so in April/May if we need the money I will just write a check to myself for the amount and deposit it but again OOPS....
So what has been everyone's big pregnancy moment?
Re: What has been your biggest "Pregnancy Brain" moment so far
Left my purse in the cafe at work... I didn't realize until an hour after lunch... I started to panic... Thank god my friend saw it and picked it up for me.
Other than that... I sometimes slur my words for no reason... its like my mouth wont work!!
I have a Nissan with the push-button start on it. It also has built in blue tooth on the steering wheel. One morning, I called DH on my way to work to tell him something. When we were finished, I went to hang up and instead of pushing the hang up button on the steering wheel, I reached forward and pussed the on-off button and shut off the car! Luckily I was at a red light. But when I tried to turn it back on, it wouldn't start. I realized I still had the car in drive and had to put it into park, re-start, then put it back into drive before the light turned green!
I also have this habit of taking the remote control from downstairs, upstairs to our bedroom at night to plug in as if it were my cell phone. DH is constantly having to take it back downstairs and bring up my cell phone. (I won't do it myself because I get winded climbing the stairs, so once I'm up, I will NOT go back down!)
These are so funny. I'm glad to hear I'm not alone!!!
I have two (well I have many more, but these stand out):
1. I sent my S/O over to my mom's after her phone was busy for over two hours. I was worried it was off the hook, maybe she had fallen or something. Turns out I had been dialing our number the whole time.
2. I texted my S/O a very detailed message and then about 1 hour later he came home and I verbally told him the exact same information. He just looked at me with that expression I'm sure you all have experienced (the "do I tell her that she's nuts or just play along" look). Well, he told me and if I didn't have the message in my phone history I probably wouldn't have believed him - I had zero recollection of having sent it.
Screwing up DH's Christmas. I got him "Christmas Vacation". He opened it up and got a strange look on his face. I was like, "It's your favorite movie!" He goes, "No it's not." I was like, "Yeah, on vacation you said that it was your all time favorite movie and that you could watch it any day of the year. Remember?" He said, "I didn't say that...Mike did." I was so embarrassed. Then I got him 2 shirts that he already owns and one of them wasn't even his size! He said he was really disappointed with Christmas this year and that I put so much thought into everyone else's gifts but his. I felt really bad. The truth is that I didn't put any thought into anyone's Christmas this year. I kind of have a lot of other things to think about! I can't believe I screwed that up.
I am so happy to see this thread and know I'm not alone. This is my third and I always thought pregnancy brain was a myth, until this time.
I have left the water running in the kitchen sink until it overflowed, left my keys in the door all night, gotten into the bath with my socks on...
But my favorite so far...one more morning I put my makeup on for work then brushed my teeth. While brushing I noticed I had on makeup and thought, "gross, I guess i didn't wash my face last night!" So I got a makeup remover wipe and washed off all of the makeup I HAD JUST PUT ON!
These are all great!!! Its so nice to have others understand.
About three months into my pregnancy I walked out of the house to get into my car and shut the door.... one problem, the keys were in the house still. Thank God I had my cell phone and called my BFF who has a key to my house. Otherwise I would have been waiting about 4 hours in the 90 degree weather for my H or Mom to get off work to come let me in.
Had another but I already can't remember it... ugh....
O the other day at Sam's Club my mom and I pulled our cart next to the bathroom to run inside... when I got back to the cart I noticed I had left my purse in the seat of the cart. Thank goodness no one took it or anything in it.
THIS MORNING! I grabbed my keys, my purse, my sunglasses, my lunch bag and ran out out the door... to my car. I get in my car, turn the ignition, check my side mirrors... put the car into reverse... and suddenly realize I want my sunglasses. I stop... reach around the seats and console to grab the sunglasses which MUST be there.
And continue to backout of my spot and head toward the freeway... still frantically searching.. holding up traffic because i'm so not focused (bad me, I know) and getting beeped at by cars behind me.
I call my sister who's at my apartment (yes with bluetooth
) and make her check the apartment... and then re-trace my steps to my car...
she's frustrated at having woken her at 7am to do so... and I"m frustrated becasue I can't find them and I'm determined she is not looking hard enough...
I finally catch my reflection in my mirror...
annnnnddd... they were on my head.
