Those of you with GD, how much did your baby weigh at...

33 weeks or so? I'm having u/s every week to keep tabs on LO and his weight this week freaked me out so I'm just curious if other women's input would help me relax. :)

  • Well I had a U/S last week and they told me that my baby was 4lbs. I am now 32 weeks.  I don't know if that is too big or what but I go back tomorrow for another U/S and I will ask them about it.
  • At 32 weeks he was weighing in at 4lb 5oz and the 50th percentile.

  • 33 weeks - 5 lbs, 4 oz, 52% percentile
  • My growth scan at 34 weeks measured him at 6lbs 7oz.  That's big, but I don't know what percentile it is.  I had GD with my last pg, and that ds was 9lbs 2oz when delivered at 39.5 weeks.

  • At 34 weeks, my LO was measuring 5lb 12 oz, don't know the percentile, but according to my Dr, he said she was within a normal wt for 34 weeks.  I have another US next week so let see how much she has grown in 3 weeks.

  • Unfortunatly my doc this time isn't doing growth U/S, which I don't like, but at 25 weeks she was 1 lb 4 oz I think which they said was 74%. Of course these are not fully accurate. DD1 was estimated in the 80%'s and they said she would be around 8 lbs 6 oz when we induced at 38 w 4 days and she was only 7 lb 11 oz. Don't stress about it too much. It is what it is ya know!

  • Don't let yourself freak out yet!

At 36 weeks DD was estimated to be 6 pounds 7 ounces and they guessed between 8 and 9 pounds at birth.

She was born at 40 weeks 3 days weighing 6 pounds 7 ounces.

My GD has been pretty well controlled just through my food choices, so I haven't been getting regular growth scans.  They did do one at 37 weeks and some days -- she "weighed" 6 lbs 11 oz and was measuring around the 40th percentile, which my midwife said was good.  That still seems REALLY big to me though, especially since I'm past my due date with no sign of labor in sight.  :-(

Remember, those growth scans are estimates, and have a pretty big margin of error.  I have heard so many stories of women being induced simply because they were told they could have a 9-10 lb baby, only to give birth to a 6 pounder.

I think the most important thing is if your blood sugars have been controlled.  If you've done relatively well and avoided high numbers, then there won't be any excess sugar floating around in your blood for your baby to absorb and pack on as extra weight.

  • I had one today at 30 weeks 6 days.  LO weighed in at 3 lbs 11 oz.  I was told this was 50th percentile.

This is what scares me. My sugars have been high and I just started Glyburide last week. My fasting numbers are better but I still have high numbers throughout the day off and on. So all in all, my numbers have been higher than preferred and that is probably contributing to the baby's weight gain.

At 33w 3d they estimated him to be 5 1/2 pounds. That freaks me out- I still have 6 weeks to go! Well, a little less, since they won't let me go past 39 weeks due to the GD.

  • At 35 weeks the estimated DS to be 6lb 5 oz, he was born at 39 weeks at 7lbs 6oz.

At 33 weeks DD was estimated it be 3lbs 9 oz, at 35 she was 5lbs 2 oz, and at 38 w, 5 days she was born at 7 lbs 5 oz.

  • Im a pre-existing diabetic - at my 32 wk growth scan; little miss was 4lbs 11oz - which I was told is the 59th percentile.

I've done so good with my sugars up until I hit 32 weeks - ever since then it's as if I can't get a hold of them - my insulin resistance is increasing so much that even being aggressive with my insulin isn't helping!

  • I have had to measurements for my baby's weight. The first one was last month and he was weighing in at 6pd 13oz and now he is weighing 7pds 11oz and now my doctor is talking about scheduling me for a c-section.  This will be my first c-sec and I am kinda nervous and scared.  Ladies just be careful with the food you eat and your medication, sometimes you have to switch your meals around a little to adjust your numbers.  If your numbers are high after lunch and lower after dinner just eat a little less at lunch and a little more at dinner.  DON'T let this GD get the best of you or your little one.  Good Luck to you ladies.

  • DD1 was 5 lbs 4 oz at 34 weeks, and 6 lbs 11 oz at birth at 39w2d.

DD2 was 3 lbs 1 oz at 29w6d - 50th percentile. The doctor thinks she's on track to be small like her big sister.

Don't freak out yet - u/s aren't completely accurate, and babies all have different patterns of growth. Your LO's growth might slow down a bit, or stay steady and you still won't end up with a huge baby :)
