We finally had our preschool open house today (DS starts tomorrow) and they are asking that the kids use those cheap recycled/reusable grocery bags you pick up for a buck as their bags this year. LOL. Of course, I had already bought him a new backpack, but he can use it for other things I guess. Their mantra is "dress for success" and think that the heavy backpacks are too much for the kids and the artwork tends to get more smushed in them. Whatever. I don't care, and probably agree, but it would be nice to know these things more than a day before they start. For all of the great things I've heard about the program, so far I'm a bit disappointed in the communication/lack thereof and the last-minute things dropped on us.
Re: Ha. All that wondering/worrying about preschool bags...
Ha, I remember wondering about backpacks before school started last year only to be given a school tote bag at back-to-school night which was only a week beforehand. All that goes in it are a folder and artwork, so it works well.
We have a reusable bag from Whole Foods that's about half the size of our other grocery bags, and I know that would be easy for DD1 to handle, so maybe you could find something like that?
That's really annoying that they waited so long to tell you. I kind of wish DD's school was using those instead of a back pack. We have so many bags. They told us absolutely no to that, though, even though it will only have a folder in it. Sigh.
