Re: 2IF Weekly Update - 7/30/11
Update: Still nothing. My body has quit. I'm just waiting - always waiting...
QOTW: I think it's example. We eat a ton of raw veggies with every dinner, so it's always been there for DD to see. She started with sweet carrots, then moved on to things like broccoli, mushrooms, and tomatoes. She won't touch things like spinach though, and hates cooked veggies (except carrots in soup - that's the only "cooked" exception!) Even though she eats veggies, I still sneak them in to things like burgers, spaghetti sauce (use a stick blender to make smooth), muffins and meatloaf, sometimes smoothies.

Keep it Natural, Baby!
Update: Still waiting! Hoping this is the month otherwise we will hit our 2 year 2IF anniversary in August. It's been almost 3 years since we stopped TTA.
QOTW: We are fairly spoiled with DD we put the veggies on her plate and she eats them. No tricks needed until I post this and she stops lol.
Update: My hcg level was zero officially yesterday...but I had a negative hpt on monday so I am assuming it was pretty close to zero then too. So now I am contemplating having sex a few times this week leading up to my RE appointment and just seeing what happens...I probably won't do it but we'll see. I usually O "late" after a loss so that would put me oing after seeing the RE...but with the way my luck is I'll O before my appointment and get pregnant then have to fess up that I "might" be pregnant. I hope she doesn't get mad. I don't know why I worry about if the doctor will be upset, I'm silly I guess. She'll probably be happy her new patient is already pregnant at a fertility center...score!
Jack doesn't eat his veggies...not cooked, not raw, I try to hide them in food but that doesn't work either. I have to give him veggie/fruit "pouches" to get veggies in his diet and he also still gets toddler formula once a day to supplement. He's a PITA eater and always has been. He's a tall boy just on the skinny side.
I go back on Tuesday for another monitoring appointment and a WTF consultation. My E2 levels were unchanged over a few days last week, and no follicles were growing. So it looks like this last chance IUI effort is out before it started! Wouldn't be so upset if I wasn't bogged down by Clomid side effects. We hope to speak to the RE about IVF on Tuesday. I have a "reservation" for the September cycle, but we just need to go over a few things about proceeding. Hope others are having better luck!
I am a little spoiled about veggie eating too. She actually likes most veggies. But she is hesitant to try new things, so we always have take one "try it" bite. She may spit it out or she may like it. But you never know if you don't try!
"Just keep swimming, just keep swimming..."
I posted earlier this week but my first IUI was not successful. I ended up deciding to move forward with another IUI cycle, just because Im already set up for it, so why not. I have a consult scheduled for IVF next week. But honestly, if this cycle of IUI doesnt work, I might actually be finished with treatments (but of course reserve the right to change my mind again for the millionth time!). My hat's off to the many of you that have been at this so much longer than me.
QOTW: My DD will eat about half of the veggies i put before her- but I try to make her at least try a bite of everything, and then have veggies that I know she does like on hand too (broccoli, green beans, etc.). Also, going to the farmers markets and getting her to help pick out veggies helps her trying them later.

Update: Just finishing up with AF and then we will be on to trying again. I am totally losing heart in this whole thing and am having a lot of trouble getting myself to monitor anything to know when to dtd. DH wants to keep trying though, so we will. DH is getting his next SA done on the 3rd so I will be anxiously awaiting those results over the next week.
QOTW: We are pretty lucky, DD will eat most veggies. I actually feel very lucky with this since I was such a picky eater. However, I now love most veggies and DH does too so I guess we have set a positive example. I have also used Jessica Seinfeld's cookbook in which she tells you how to make purees with vegetables and then put them in recipes to sneak them into foods for children.
Update: Still in the wait, expecting AF soon by the state of my face. Blah.
QOTW: DD is the pickiest eater. Her food groups include carbs, fried ham with syrup (really?), yogurt and strawberries. I can sneak spinach into a smoothie and she'll drink it about 50% of the time. DH and I love our veggies and are always trying, half the time she shakes her head and laughs at us. Today at lunch she eyed my salad and said "Mama eats leaves".
Update: We were on vacation all this past week. (It was so needed!!) I met with a genetic counselor the day before we left who explained my newly diagnosed balanced translocation. The appt was both reassuring and scary at the same time. I will be calling my RE's office Monday to see if there has been any word from my ins. co regarding paying for any of the IVF with PGD. I am going to try to be as aggresive as possible about pushing for getting things done asap. I'm tired of waiting!!
QOTW: DD never used to eat veggies, but lately she's more willing to try them. She loves raw carrots and cooked broccoli. I just keep putting them on her plate and asking her to try them until she will finally taste them.

2/18 transferred 1-8cell and 1-9cell embie. Snuggle in little embies.
positive on HPT 6dp3dt. Could this really be IT?!?! Beta 14dp3dt=2440. U/S scheduled for 3/20.
Update: We're having a girl!
QOTW: When DS was little I would hide pureed vegetables in his food (Jessica Sinefields' books), as he got older and understand, we just tell him he has to eat it before he can leave the table or get what he likes.
Update: Not much to report. Chugging along. Second trimester today, so I guess that is exciting.
QOTW: DS is an extremely picky eater. He has always been. He's also super skinny, below the charts skinny, but has been that way and is growing/developing fine. He will eat tons of fruit, and sometimes makes an entire meal out of it, but vegetables are a continued struggle. He'll eat raw carrots, and has just started eating lettuce, but I am talking about one quarter of a baby carrot and one lettuce leaf. And, we're vegetarian! Hopefully, he'll begin to add more veggies to his repertoire. We try to lead by example, but if we just give him veggies, he'll just not eat. So, we try not to be too bothered by it. Perhaps I will try the veggie juice...

2WW here.
This is my first stimulated cycle, and it's the WEIRDEST THING EVER. I could feel exactly where the follicles were on my ovaries--at first as weight, then as pain. I felt O cramping, as I usually do, and now my right fallopian tube--the one with the good follies--is feeling...odd. Starting early this evening, I could feel a spot of discomfort. And my ute already feels strange--it's doing SOMETHING, I just don't know what. The Prometrium's GREAT--I've got sore bewbs and something stronger than the slightly heavy feeling I get in my ute when a cycle doesn't completely suck. So I'm VERY cautiously optimistic--as in, I actually have a prayer this time around. (Usually, 2 out of 3 cycles are an obvious bust for me long before I get around to the PG test. If I don't get strong physical premenstrual symptoms, there's no way that a fert egg is going to make it even to a BFP.)
I've been hypersensitive to my body for some time--9 years is a lot of "practice" at listening--but this time around, the sensations are about 100 times stronger. I don't know how much it is directly attributable to the drugs and how much of it is attributable to the fact that my cycles usually really suck. I'm actually hoping it's more the 2nd than the first, and this would mean better chances for me!
So I'm sitting here with my right tube aching, hoping it's a good thing....
QOTW: I make them eat a tiny amount of what they don't like but keep what they do on hand! Raw carrots and salad, cooked broccoli, tomatoes, eggplant, zucchini, spaghetti squash, butternut squash, spinach, pumpkin, basil (counts in pesto...), turnips, corn, potatoes, and the like are all big hits here. The grownups and the youngest like green beans, too.
TTC since 6/02 (age 22) K/U instantly despite no AF for 5 months--preemie baby boy 1/03
M/C 11/04 - M/C 05 - M/C 06 - BFP 2/08--fullterm baby girl 10/08 - M/C 4/11 - went to RE at age 31
DX: crappy quality & infrequent ovulation, mild MFI
Stimmed cycle #1 C/P 7/11 - Stimmed cycle #2 C/P 8/11 - Stimmed cycle #4 C/P 10/11
On Stimmed Cycle #5
Always thought I'd be a "mom of many"--now just hoping to be a "mom of one or two more!"
Update: I'm scheduled for surgery on Wednesday morning at 9:15am mountain time, to, I guess, resurface, my uterine lining. Fun times! Then I get a balloon stent for 12 days, and for those 12 plus another 9 I get to take pure estrogen, and then 7 days of progesterone. Then we look and see if I'm ready for that next cycle, that would probably start around September 1-3.
QOTW: This is getting harder. DS was the baby who would only eat peas, zucchini, and spinach, and then for probably 18 months, I think he lived on black beans and completely plain, unsweetened greel yogurt. Now, he's getting tougher. He's got the rep as the kid in his class who eats the healthiest, but that's mostly because he only gets whole grains and he gets fruit and veggies in every lunch, but honestly I don't think he eats that much. When we have salad, he eats cucumber, carrots, and red pepper, but now he may only eat a bite or 2 of each. And when we have cooked veggies, we give him some, but if it's not a carrot or zucchini, no way. He does love sweet corn right from the cob, and if we are desperate to get veggies in him, a few times a week I can talk him into some frozen peas and corn. He will eat his body weight practically in whole wheat pasta with homemade basil pesto (we freeze a ton every fall and thaw as needed). But at 2.5, he's much less adventurous than he was when he was younger. We have a hard time getting him to even eat one bite of food he's skeptical of.
Update: none really, just waiting for cycles to resume after m/c. I have a WTF appointment next Tuesday with the RE.
QOTW: After reading some of these responses I feel like a slacker mom because I don't think I offer veggies enough! I'm pretty bad about eating them myself, so I'm sure that's part of it. My DS is about the same age as choirgirl's and I agree, it's becoming harder and harder to get him to try new things, or any veggies. He was into dipping the veggies in hummus or ranch but now he will just dip it, lick off the dip, and reject the veggie. He does eat peas quite a bit and Gardenburgers. Bribery works sometimes, or finding a fun new way to eat it, like taking a bite with Daddy's fork. But mostly it's pretty hard. Thankfully, he loves all fruits and many fruits are just as nutritious as veggies, like kiwi or blueberries.
Update: Still on break because of the herniated disc, BUT I'm on CD1 !! Never been so excited for that! I think it was my low GI diet! Woo hoo!!! Started charting and sticking to the diet with lots of exercise.
QOTW: DD is only 11 months old and pretty much eats everything. She does seem to enjoy veggies. I hope we did a good job getting her on track and she will continue to eat them. DH & I are eating pretty well these days so I'm sure that helps by setting a good example.
Baby #3 is on the way! EDD 3/8/15
DD1--8/29/10
DD2--11/6/12
Thanks so much for the welcome! I've mostly stuck to the Preemies board in the past and I can tell that you ladies are equally as supportive.
Update: I had my first infertility consult with my OB last week. She is awesome! I had an HSG procedure today and was pleased to learn I have no scar tissue from the postpartum D & C two years ago and my tubes look good. We already knew I had a bicornuate uterus, but it was interesting to see it on the screen. Now the plan is to check my progesterone levels in a couple of weeks because the most likely culprit is short luteal phase. I'm actually hoping that's the problem because then we can start to tackle it right away!
QOTW: DD's only residual preemie issue is eating. She's always been picky, so veggies (like everything else) are hit or miss. We have the best luck if they have some type of seasoning on them.
Update: DH is coming home from deployment SOON! VERY SOON!
I just got done taking BCP to try and 'reset' my body. Here's hoping for CD1 and a hopeful month of trying 'on our own'.
QOTW: My DD will only eat corn and those Gerber diced carrots. She asks for 'salad' when I eat it, but will only suck off the dressing
She loves the pureed Gerber green beans, but won't eat the real thing. WTH!?
3/11 DX: lean PCOS/anovulatory
9/11 ovarian drilling to remove cysts + 5mg Femara = BFN
10/11 5 mg Femara again = BFP, ectopic pregnancy at 5w4d
11/11 diagnosed with breast cancer
12/11 bilateral mastectomy with reconstruction

"Just keep swimming, Just keep swimming"
Update: I can be moved to the 2ww!
I had my hsg on the 14th right before I left on vacation. They discovered a blocked right tube, we got it to spill. Crossing my fingers that is all we need. Otherwise, will be trying on our own and seeking alternatives from the RE before we do our one and only IUI next year. (Since dh will only do one, I am trying to lose more weight to maximize our one chance).
QOTW: DD loves vegetables. She is finnicky about textures (mashed potatos), but if I am eating them and she wants a bite she says, "mmm, I like it!" so that is mainly how I get her to eat her veggies, I pretend to eat them so she'll want them. There are times she'll spit it out due to texture though.
