Potty-training for Irish twins or close?

Was there any overlap? We've been working with DD1 inconsistently for a little while and so far, nothing (but I didn't expect it since she is only 22 months old). It occurred to me, though, that there might be some overlap with DD2, if she decides to emulate her older sister.

I've been thinking about this too. I have two boys so I wasn't even thinking about starting until after #1 turns 2. But he has started letting us know when his diaper is wet so the time might be getting closer. I'd love to hear what other mommies experiences have been.

We are hoping for some overlap. We just started with DS and DD has shown a lot of interest, so we went out and bought a 2nd potty chair. Every time he sits on his, she does the same

Mine are 17 months apart and we started potty training/learning with both at the same time (19/20 months and 3/4 months).

You're spending all your time in the bathroom already, right? Why not maximize the time.

You started when your younger one was 3-4 months old? I'm so curious about this - did you do EC? Or something else. When did they become fully trained?

Yes - we did EC. I'm SO not a crunchy granola type but I was reading a book called "Early Start Potty Training" and it talked about EC. I had zero interest but it did make logical sense (most of the population of the world potty trains well before the US - especially those cultures that don't have disposable diapers).

I was in the bathroom with the older one one day and thought "why not" so I put the baby on fully expecting nothing to happen and was jaw droppingly stunned when he peed in the toilet.

He was pooping in the potty pretty much exclusively by about 5 months and continued to do so until he was out of underwear at 20 months but I went back to work at 6 months and the nanny really wasn't fully on board so he reverted back to peeing in diapers 100% with her and with me for all pees except for those when he first woke up after the night and nap and often before bath.

It wasn't until around 19/20 months that I had 5 days in a row work free that I dedicated to getting him fully trained and done with diapers.

So - both of my guys were out of diapers by 20 months old for day time hours. The younger one didn't end up being diaper free any earlier but we used WAY fewer diapers for him because when we did catch his pees that diaper that stayed dry continued to get used instead of thrown in the trash, KWIM?

And by far the best part was no poopy diapers. Poop diapers gross me out so I was thankful that he learned to do that in the toilet at a super young age.
