Solids

We plan on starting solids with DS in a couple weeks and I was wondering, do I decrease the amount of milk he is getting so that he may have room for solids or no? What have you decided or heard?

Right now he drinks about 5-6 ounces (breastmilk). Or do I just keeping feeding him the 6 ounces for a mid day snack, lunch etc....?

Re: Solids

  • I'm sure you will discuss this with your pedi, but you are supposed to offer BM or formula first and then offer foods. He will only be eating a tiny amount at first. It's just practice for now.

  • No, they get the same amount of milk when you start solids. They might naturally reduce the amount as they get older (like 9-12 months), but your LO will let you know when.
