Saddest pregnancy can't have (Midwest people)

My NP told me today that I can't have apple cider (unpasturized) so the fresh stuff from the cider mill is off limits!! Boo!!

I'm thinking that if I get the hot cider it should be fine? It's hot like 180 degrees hot, so I think that should be okay. But still... that was a big BOO.

Bummer! I certainly don't want to put my baby at risk but sometimes it feels like they want us to live in a bubble for 9 months with all the don't's. Sorry about the cider!

I didn't, it just occurred to me a few minutes ago that I like my cider hot instead of cold. The hot cider is easily close to 200 degrees. (I used to work in a restaurant where the hot water came out at 200 degrees for the hot tea,) I would say it's probably 180 degrees for the cider because you are barely able to sip it at all.

Last time I was pregnant I bought the pasteurized cider sold at the grocery store. It tastes the same too!

NY has had a law against unpasteurized cider for a while, so I'm in the clear here..

: ( When you live in Minnesota - no grocery store cider beats drinking the FRESHEST cider AT the orchard!!!! Luckily since it can snow most any month here, they have hot cider at all orchards : )

I'm not from the midwest but there is a place here in CA that is a bunch of apple orchards and they sell fresh pressed cider, and it's soooo good. We always go around halloween and I realized the other day....I can't drink the cider. I was really bummed.

I know! I just thought of this the other day. Happily, our local orchard sells at Meijer so I can pick some up there instead of at the orchard. It's the same stuff, only pasteurized. It won't be the same though on the day we go to the orchard!

I didn't even think about that! I think I had it with my last pregnancy...oops! It does make sense though since it is unpasteurized. We take our kindergarteners to the apple orchard every year and they give us cider. Maybe I can hope that it's ok!

Hopefully heated cider is ok. We live in CA were planning on taking a drive to one of the few little apple orchard communities we've got nearby to pick apples and have cider.

I have never had an apple cider donut but, my goodness, they sound delicious!

Nope, not just Midwest. In my home town, each Fall, we have an apple festival. Fresh apple cider, apple cider doughnuts, apple butter, apple pie bake off....It's my favorite Fall festival. I'm just going to have to heat mine up, like PP said.

That was the saddest thing for me too. Not Midwest but we drive a little over an hour every fall to our old town for the best orchard and cider around. We usually buy a few gallons and freeze it. I can buy local cider in the store but it isn't the same. Sad
