Doctors in the Chicago area

HI!

I was just wondering if anyone had any recommendations for good doctor/clinics in the Chicago area.  Specifically in the Northwest suburbs. I've been searching on the internet and my doctor referred us to Fertility Centers of Illinois in Buffalo Grove.  So far I have read conflicting reviews about that clinic (and pretty much every other clinic) Just wanted to get some personal feedback for such a sensitive topic and such an important decision. Thanks!

Re: Doctors in the Chicago area

  • Hi, I was referred to the FCI out in Hoffman Estates/Barrington (can't remember which Smile) by my OB who said a female doctor there was very kind and compassionate.  I couldn't use them b/c my insurance is not in network there.  So, I've been going to Invia Fertility - Dr Karande.  Honestly, I'm not super impressed.  The Dr seems to know what he is talking about but the office staff seems a little confused.  They are converting to digital medical records, which I think is part of the issue, but not really an excuse.  I would change, I think, if I could.

  • Thanks!  It seems like there really isn't a "perfect" clinic out there.  I'm sorry that you are at a place that you don't really like, either.  I actually met with the Dr at the Buffalo Grove clinic and then read the reviews.  The doctor seemed nice, but the nurse was NOT.  Everything I read about said that you never deal with the doctor you are only dealing with the nurse, so since I did not get along with the nurse I did not think it was going to be a good match.  Maybe I will check out the one in Hoffman Estates because that is not too far from us either.
  • I hope you don't mind me posting, but I went to the FCI clinic in Hoffman Estates and absolutely loved everyone there.  I had a wonderful experience with them (or as wonderful as having to deal with IF can be).

They were the only clinic I ever tried.  I've also heard good things about advanced fertility in Gurnee, but never went there.

GL!  I hope you find the right fit for you.

  • im not familar with docs in the NW suburbs...i went to FCI in River North (downtown) and i had a horrid experience.  i switched to dr.confino at northwestern and he has been unbelieveable so far.  goes above and beyond any RE that i have worked with or heard of.
  • I am using the Advanced Fertility Center of Chicago in Gurney, IL.  However, I am using DE and have not gone through my cycle yet.  That said, everyone has been very helpful and very available.  I chose them because of their stats-- well above the national average... Good luck choosing!

  • I have been going to FCI in River North with Dr. Kap.lan. I do like him, and he uses the Highland Park Lab which has great stats.  I am currently in the process of switching to CCRM though as after 3 failed IVF cycles we thought it was time for a second opinion.  Good luck deciding.

  • Thanks for all the replies.  It seems like FCI is hit or miss depending on the location.  Do you know where you are going to switch to?  Where can I find the stats on a clinic?

  • Not sure if you have already selected a place, but my husband and I had consultation appointments with Dr. Charles Miller (Naperville & Schaumburg offices) and Dr. Todd Deutch (Crystal Lake & Gurnee offices).  Although Dr. Miller has high scores and definitely has a great background, we chose to move forward with Dr. Deutch and LOVE him.  A friend of mine recommended him.  Dr. Deutch is with Advanced Fertility of Illinois, and they have high IVF scores in both the CDC and SART reports.
