Baby Names

Which spelling would you choose?

We are having baby girl and are pretty set on the name Hailey.  My question is would you spell it "Hailey" or "Haley"?  The middle name will probably be Michelle.

Re: Which spelling would you choose?

  • I think I would go with Hailey. It seems a little more feminine to me.
  • I like the Hailey Spelling the best.

Hailey Michelle sounds beautiful BTW. =D

  • I think this is one of those names that has a ton of spellings.  I think of Hayley Mills, then I also know a girl named Haley.

  • I wouldn't pronounce them the same. I'd pronounce Hailey like hay-lee and Haley like hal-lee. I like them both, but prefer Hailey. I know a couple Hayleys (my age), but I think that will be misspelled often.

  • I have a weird obsession with picking out names with corresponding letters...so in this case I like Hailey Michelle because both have an "i" :)

  • I see two entirely separate names there,

    Hailey is Hi-leigh

    Haley is Hah-leigh

If Hay-leigh is what you're shooting for, I'd go with Hayley.

  • I disagree with PP that Hailey = Hi-lee and prefer that spelling.

Though because of Hayley Mills (Parent Trap / Pollyanna) I have a fondness for her spelling.
