When to send out invites?

DS's birthday party is on the 27th.  I was planning on sending out the invites this week.  I have been harrassed for the last 2 weeks with questions about when and where the party is and why I didn't tell them, and why invitations haven't gone out etc.  (One person who was upset about not finding out sooner has her baby shower the next day which I had no clue about until she called me to harrass me about the b-day party)  I was thinking that sending them out more than a month in advance was way too early.  What do you think?  (BTW all of these harrasers are being nice about it, it's just driving me nuts that everyone is freaking out)

Re: When to send out invites?

  • I would send them out this week, if you can. Its hard with labor day, for that time of this month.  My besties daughter has her b.day on the 27th they always do her party the weekend before, she let us know the date/time since we are coming from oot, but her invites havent gone out yet either.

  • I usually do 4-5 weeks out.  Late summer is a super busy time for people since our nice weather window is so short, maybe next year you can do 5-6 weeks?

  • 4 weeks is usually what I do.  Because its a summer birthday and everyone is so busy I like to give people some notice since I know that I end up with my weekends booked up pretty quickly.

  • I think 4 weeks is sufficient.  It's not like people have to travel and find hotel rooms.

  • DD's birthday and party are on the 27th. As pp's have said, it is a busy time of year so I sent out my invites last week. I let those coming from out of town know ahead of time so they would have it on their calendars.
