Breathing weird- Does your DD/DS do it?

My DD is starting to do this odd breathing thing where is sounds like she is breathing in and holding her breath. Almost like gasping for air but she is very happy and playing when she does it.  Does anyone elses child do this?

  • My LO does something like that too when he gets really excited while playing. It's hard to describe though.

  • My DD does something like this, it's almost like a panting....it's weird...

But then I realized that when I play with her and I bounce her on my knee I make a sound like "Tsst tsst tsst" as I'm bouncing (think like a jazz symbol....like tapping on a symbol softly kind of sound), and when DD is "panting" it sounds like she's trying to make that sound.

  • Yup DS does that exact thing. the first time i heard it i freaked out because i thought he was choking or something. He was smiling and playing while doing it. He loves it.

  • My DD does something similar, almost a panting sound, when she is excited. It is always when she is very happy or excited, usually when she is playing with a toy she has not seen for a while or when our dog comes up to her.

  • My DD does that, too.. like a gasp.  I just think it is all normal experimentation with sounds.
  • Yup! Totally sounds like she's gasping for air but she's just excited!
