Soon to be regular....

Hi all.  Looks like I will be a regular on this board pretty soon.  My husband just told me on Friday that he wants to separate for a while.  He gave me various reasons as to why, but none of them sounded concrete enough for me to warrant his decision, but it is his nonetheless.

All I know is that I have to be strong for our daughter.

  • It's never a "good" thing to have new ladies on this board, because it means they're going through something really crappy that nobody should have to face. However, welcome and we're here for you if you need it!

The more we talk about things the better I feel about the situation.  I don't want him to go, but if he stays he may grow to resent me.  And neither one of us want that.  We have to be better than that for the sake of our daughter.

Thank you!  I sure I will need all the support I can get.

I'm sorry to hear this.  Unfortunately we don't always get a say so about what happens in our own life.  Not to pour salt in the wound, but is there a chance that there is someone else?  Rarely do I find that men just "don't want to be married" unless there's some distraction going on.

I bluntly asked him and he said no (and I believe him on that).  Honestly, I think he has found himself in a rut - ie. no job for 6+ months, he is a SAHD now, a bunch of other friends are going through relationship problems and one of them recently separated.  He turns 30 next month and he said that he is not happy with the way things are and where he is right now.  That's still no reason to walk away.  He acknowledged that he is the one tearing the family apart.  Our 2 year old already knows something is wrong because she keeps wanting us to come together and hug.  Last night she did and said "my family" when we all hugged each other.
