BTDT Moms, question re: PNP's

Hi ladies ? I am looking for some advice. Had my shower today and received a 2nd PNP. My in-laws live 2.5 hrs away on a lake and we visit fairly often year-round, so we can either keep one PNP and carry it back & forth or keep both and leave one there. Any opinions? Would it make more sense to return one and purchase something else that we didn't receive at the shower and still need? TIA!

Re: BTDT Moms, question re: PNP's

  • We have one PNP at our house and one at my mom's house and it has always come in handy--one less thing to lug back and forth.

  • I'd keep both and leave one there. We actually have one at my in-laws' place in CT, one at their place in FL, one at my parents' place in CT, and one at our house that travels with us when we go elsewhere. Granted, the ones at all the grandparents' houses are cheaper models (I think they were all around $50 on clearance), but it's awesome to not have to worry about packing those (they take up a lot of space) and soooo convenient for naps/overnights.

One FYI, though - when baby gets bigger, you'll have to add some sort of padding to it. We just bought $10 twin size egg crates and cut them to size. Now she sleeps much better.

  • I'd return it and just take one back and forth. We used ours a lot for the first year and a half or so, but now he just sleeps on the floor or in bed with one of us when we are away from home.  My parents and in-laws both have one and they haven't gotten much use.

  • I'm in the same boat as you are! I've actually received multiple items in doubles! What I've been doing is leaving the extras at whoever's house bought the gift for me. I find it makes them happy to know I still want to use it and it gives them future hope for LOTS of visit time! It's also going to be great for when we go to visit because then thats one less thing you have to remember to grab. Hope this helps!

  • I'd keep it.... well exchange it for the cheapest model and then pocket the leftover store credit!

My parents actually purchased their own pNp and they live just 10 minutes from me. But we go over there frequently  and stay for many hours including meal times, etc.

  • I'd keep them both and give one to your parents. We lugged around our PNP for about the first 2 vistis home during the holidays with DD#1, and my parents thankfully went out and bought one for themselves shortly after that. Just one more thing that we didn't have to break down, set up, and lug around. DD actually liked sleeping in PNP better than her own bed up until about a few weeks ago when we converted her crib to a toddler bed!

  • I got two and took one back.  It wasn't that hard to pack up and bring with me and I used the money to put towards some other baby gear that I still needed.

  • I left one at my moms for over a year since we were visiting ALOT for medical treatments. It was a big relief to not have one more thing to pack up. You can always sell the extra later if you don't need it!

  • Id leave one at the in laws house. My parents live 6hrs away, but they still have a carseat and some toys for when we visit a few times a year. Its alot easier to have even ONE less thing to lug around since babies require so much

  • We never had a pnp and we have survived. I'd return one and lug the other around when needed.

  • I think you should keep it and keep it at your IL's house.  If you do visit there often, I can imagine it will be very convenient for you guys to not have to carry that around each time.

We received an extra bouncer and an extra car seat base.  We were also given an extra pnp by a family member.  All three items are at my parent's house, who live just 30 minutes away.  LO isn't here just yet, but I can imagine that it will be much easier to have these items already there so my DH and I aren't lugging them around each time.
