Pity Party for 1 - My Shower was CXL

I just received a phone call from my BFF who is organizing our shower. It's really a BBQ with friends to celebrate the impending arrival of LO. Anyway, only 5 people have RSVPed and she said a substantial amount of people can't make it or haven't responded. She feels like the low number of attendees is because she didn't give them enough time and many of them are teachers that are travelling. I was hesitant to have this party in the first place and now I'm sad because people can't come. Oh well. We are going to plan on having a "meet and greet" once our little man arrives. Pity party for one over and out.

    Aw, that is disappointing, I'm so sorry. I am sure it is what your friend said, planning things in the summer is always hard.

    I think a meet and greet after will be more fun anyway. I am starting to wish I could have one of those instead of a shower, I may do one of my own.

    Crap. I'm sorry. I think a meet and greet is a great idea. If I were near you, I would definitely go to either/or!!

    I do too. What kills me is that I never wanted a shower in the first place. DH and I had decided against it...superstitious reasons and being uncomfortable receiving gifts...until this friend organized everything. And now I'm sad because it's not happening! Hormones!

    That is disappointing.  I'm sorry.  I had a sip & see shower after DD was born, and it was wonderful!  You'll love it.

    Aw shucks, you have every right to be disappointed.  I certainly would be.  I hope that when you do a meet and greet, that the turn out is phenomenal...and that your LO gets a few gifts as well.Yes
