Portrait Innovations

Ladies,

I have planned to have my family's picture taken next weekend at Portrait Innovations.  I chose them because I have heard good things about them.  I didn't realize that they charged $15 per sheet.  Is it worth the price or is there some kind of secret pricing that I don't know about?  I have heard people say that they are inexpensive, but that seems kind of steep to me.

What are your experiences?

Re: Portrait Innovations

  • They have packages there which make your sheets cheaper.  I have not been to them but have heard great things :0)

  • i have never been there, but a friend at work said they ended up being very expensive.  we had kat's pictures taken at sears and thought they were reasonably priced and they turned out really well.  the girl that took the photos was really good with our girl too, she made her smile really big.

  • we have a group of 8... so I don't know how well JCP or Sears would be.  I used to work at JCP portrait studio and 8 was a big # for them.  I don't know what to do?
  • Call them and ask about their package prices.  Also, remember that you are paying the fee to be getting your pictures the same day instead of waiting weeks for them.  Good luck in your decision.  If you aren't satisfied, you don't have to buy, LOL!

  • We are getting Brenna's Christmas photos taken there this week.  I know they have an advertised package deal on their website right now:

    1-10x13, 2-8x10, 4-5x7, 4-3x5, 32 wallets for $9.95.  No sitting fee.

We will do the special package and add some wallets for Christmas cards.  I decided to go there for Christmas and do her 3 mo photos separate (at JCP) because the Portrait Innovations package is for one pose only.  If you just need to pick one good pose, the package might work for you.  It gets expensive when you add poses.

  • We did our family picture there last year, they did a great job. Like pp said, they had the $9.95 special running, and we did that, then bought a few more sheets, ended up with way too many pictures for about $60. We had 8 adults, and 4 kids in the picture, they were very accomodating. However make your appt as early as possible, they do run way behind, and we ended up waiting an extra 45minutes. Good luck!
  • I was also going to recommend the package if you only want one pose, but in my experience, I always end up wanting more than one so I go to JCP where I can get plenty of sheets, poses, enhancements, etc. for around $50 bucks.  Friends of mine have told me they've spent around $150 at PI, and I don't think they are any better.  I don't care about being able to get my photos back that day, as long as I can view proofs and order that day.  I also like JCP's Smiles By Wire program, so that I can view/order more prints online at a later time if I want to... I don't know if PI offers something similar.  One thing to keep in mind is the sitting fee for 8 people at JCP.  If you are a member of their portrait club, I believe you can have however many people you want to without paying the sitting fee.  I've never had that big of a group, but if you are footing the bill for the session, it may be worth it to go ahead and join, and not have to pay a sitting fee again.

  • There is secret pricing :). We always go there.

For example, you automatically get their 9.99 package with no sitting fee. It has a lot of sizes and really is a nice package. From there, you can add on either sheet-by-sheet or by a package. Per sheet is $15, but to get the first size package is, i believe, 23.99 or so. That includes like 3 or 4 sheets, so it's a real deal. We've gotten away with just getting the 9.99 package with the 23.99 package or whatever and have always had plenty. From there, you can add on and the prices go up. So the next package size up is like $31, and includes 3 or 4 more sheets, etc.

Not sure if they are all like this, but all three times I've gone, to various locations, they've accidentally printed out too many sheets, so I've always gotten extra.

I've always had a good experience. Good luck!

  • I have always gone there too and ended up with an insane amount of sheets for not too much money. The last time I went, I took me, all three kids and did group shots of all of us with a few poses and backgrounds, of just the kids, of each of the kids alone and Brooke's 9 month pictures. I got out of there for around $150 but that also included something like 4 10x13, 10 8x10, 20 5x7, .....you know, I am just guessing here but I have my printout at home of everythign that I got and how much money it was....do you want me to scan it in and email it to you?

(they always have that 9.95 deal and once you get that, you get the cd and adding sheets is a little cheaper then)
