triplet mommies

tell me about your stroller, car seats, etc.  I plan on buying a double stroller and wearing a child when I go out alone.  Is this realistic?

Thanks!

Re: triplet mommies

  • I don't know. I can't wear a baby.  It hurts my back.

IMO it is highly unlikely that you will go anywhere with them alone for the first three months or so.  So I would start out with a double and singe and then figure out if you need a triple stroller later.

We have the peg perego triple and I like it. It doesn't fold very small though and I have to remove the seats to fit it in the van.  We did get the compatable peg infant seats but if I could do it over I wouldn't spend the money on them.  Consider the valco tri mode as your double because when they are older you can add a joey seat to it for the third child.

  • Im not having Triplets but babyrus.com have nice triplet strollers. You'll be better off because carrying one baby does hurt your back. Seriouly!

  • I got the triple decker stroller off CL to use with the Graco snugride infant seats and then a single frame too just in case I need to take one baby to the Dr or out. For when they are older I got a triple stroller by Inglesia off CL. I may end up getting the Valco tri mode if the Inglesia doesn't work out. The Peg Perego while nice, it is so big so I didn't want it. Plus the PP infant seats are so heavy. It really sucks that it is such slim pickings for triple strollers.

  • I never really wore my daughter it also hurt my back too much.  I got the triple decker frame that goes with the snugride car seats off of CL's only paid $75 for it.  I also got an older model single vertical row baby trend stroller for when they're older.  It folds big but I think it will work out it does fit in the back of the van.  I only paid $50 for that on my local MOM's classified board.  Then I also have single and doouble snap n goes in case I would need them?

  • Mine are not here yet but this is my plan. I got the double snap and go and will get a Ergo or a Beco to carry one in. I have a bad back from Fibromialgia and I wore my son all the time and never had a problem till he was over 1 and I had a crappy carrier then. I have not seen any triple strollers on my CL and our MoM group is not active so I don't have a lot of options. I also have a husband who will never be around (military) so it will be just me going out with my 4 and this seems like the best way for us. We will get a good triple down the road when we have the extra money and not buying cribs and car seats and all that.

Do you have any support other than your DH? Will he be deployed or home in the evenings?

He will be "home" in the fact not deployed but his job is as a flyer he leaves for 2 weeks or more at random times we never get much notice and never know when for how long. He also has to do local flights and they tend to be a night so sleeping all day. When he is home he works from about 8-5 so at least home at night then. But he left for first trip when DS was under a month old.  We don't have any family anywhere near us we are working on seeing if anyway to get orders back home but not looking likely. It will be hard but I will have to make due.

  • we started with a double and single snap n go. a few months in we realized we needed a triple umbrella also. we bought one from jusonne.com its an overseas website, we couldnt find this stroller in the us. its the obaby triple umbrella, paid 450 total and we love it, folds easily, fits in the truck easily and all seats recline independently

  • Ugh, the stroller situation stresses me out more than anything else.  The latest conclusion I have at the moment that I think will work best for our family is that I want to get the Chicco Keyfit double stroller and a regular keyfit stroller.  In the early days, if I have to bring the children out by myself for whatever reason (which I really don't think will happen often), I will put one in a sling or carrier and use the doubler stroller.  Eventually I will get an umbrella stroller too when they get bigger.  It just seems so goofy to me to get a stroller initially and spend all that money if it's just going to be usuable in a couple months.
