  • LOVE! Our daughter is going to be Elise Vivian... Her middle name after my Aunt, who spells it that way. Both spellings are pretty, though I *think* Vivian is the classic spelling.. Great choice!!!

  • I don't personally like it (I don't like most V names), but it's a perfectly good name. Seems to be getting more popular, so I guess if that bothers you, it might not be the right choice.

  • I love Vivienne. The spelling and pronunciation. My family is French, though.

  • Dislike either spelling. I hate V names and it's too old lady IMO. It really seems to be rising in popularity though so obviously lots of people like the name.
  • I really like both pronunciations. I think Vivian is probably what most English-speakers will be familiar with. Vivienne may be called "Vivian" a lot in her life, but I don't think that's a great reason to not name your kid something in and of itself if you really like the name.

  • Vivian is lovely. I think most people would spell it that way. Vivienne is over the top IMO. I think this name is refreshing.

  • Love Vivienne...just my personal opinion. I'm a 2nd grade teacher and I had a little girl named Vivienne once and her nickname was Vivi (pronounced Vih-vee) and she was adorable :) Haha.

  • I like Vivienne, but agree that it's pronounced differently than Vivian.

  • I like Vivian.  I tend to gravitate toward simpler spellings...perhaps because my name is Juliet and I prefer it to Juliette.

  • Not a fan. It's one of the old lady names I can't get behind.

I like Vivian.  I think Vivienne looks pretentious in the sad Bentley/Chanel way unless you're French.

    This.

  • I like Vivienne more, but I think most people will try to call her Vivian and you will forever be correcting them or just letting it grind your nerves... I think Vivi is a cute nn
  • Love the name Vivian! The other spelling is NMS....I think it just sounds over the top.

    BTW: cute siggy pic!

My niece is Vivienne and called Vivi too!

I love it both ways, so can't choose.

  • Of the two I prefer Vivian.  However, it's not a name I would choose...but I don't hate it.

  • I don't have strong feelings either way on pronunciation but I'd pick Vivian because I think its easier to spell and less of a hassle.
