Pregnant after a Loss

Carseat question

I know this probably belongs in the baby gear board but I of course trust yalls judgment better:) I just realized the carseat we bought doesn't fit in my center seat (should have thought about that). I know that's the safest seat, but is one of the side seats really that much less safe?

Re: Carseat question

  • It's fine. Think of people who have more than one car seat! If it wasn't safe, they would not be allowed to put the seats on the sides.

  • Center is safest but we were told it doesn't REALLY matter- many people put it on one side or the other.

  • It is still relatively safe. The center seat protects more from side impact, glass, and the seat in front moving back. If the seat doesn't fit in the middle either rear seat will work.

  • They say the "safest" place is the middle, but I've known plenty of people who can't do that, due to more than one seat.  The most important thing is a good fit.  So if it's in the middle, but doesn't fit well, that negates the safety.  Put it where it fits best, or if it really bugs you, I guess you could exchange it for a different one.  But I think it would be fine.
  • I can't put mine in the center.  We drive a Honda Element and there is no center seat in the back.  I have read that it is fine on the side if the center is not an option.
