Cloth Diapering

Sweaty PFs / Diaper Rash

Hi,

I've been using GMD PFs and some WAHM fitteds on my 3wk old.  He has come down with a diaper rash, so I temporarily switched to disposables (and used Desitin).  It cleared up quickly, so I went back to PFs, but the rash came right back.  How do I prevent diaper rash from recurring?  I've been putting Grandma El's cream on.

Also, it seems that he completely sweats through the fitteds and PFs.  I don't think it's pee (odorless and colorless).

Any tips/suggestions appreciated.  TIA!

  • You can try putting a fleece liner in the diaper. It should help him stay a little drier. I just buy fleece at the fabric store and cut it myself. Also, make sure you're changing him often enough.

  • Baby's pee doesn't really have smell or color to it.  It think it is more likely pee that is causing them to be wet.  I know that especially as a newborn, I had to change LO really frequently.  The newborn prefolds are not very absorbent at all.  I would try changing LO more frequently and also try fleece.
