So today my husband and I installed the carseat into my vehicle, and then took it down to the firehouse for inspection. He had it super tight and I couldn't move it much, but I figured the technician would have a super secret trick and he could get it way tighter. So we get there and he gives the seat a big tug and says "man, who installed this??" And Dave told him that he had, to which the tech replied "man this thing isn't getting any tighter - this is the first seat I've seen installed correctly ALL YEAR". He then proceeds to have a fellow fireman come over and check out how great of a job DH did on the seat. I was so proud, he's such a good dad already

Re: AW: my DH and his carseat installation skills
My DH gets it super tight in there too. Ladies, the secret is to put all your body weight (well DH's) into the middle of the seat/base with their knee, while tightening the straps at the same time!
That is awesome! My DH can usually get it in there pretty tight too. I think he puts his knee on the base to push it down into the seat and uses his strength to pull the belt tight. I can not come close to getting it tight. Thanks goodness for DH's!
Yup, that is exactly what we do too. Our carseats are so tight that are molded into the seat haha. Of course it makes for an interesting time when trying to remove them.
I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who has to put their weight into it to get them tight.
My car doesn't have the latch system so I am used to using the seatbelts. MIL's durango has those seatbeslts that kinda of lock themselves at the waist so I have to put my knee into the seat quite a bit to get enough slack to be able to tighten them at all. No one else likes that I do it because they worry abutt heir seats but honestly I could care less.
Thanks for making me feel better about it and
Way to go to your DH!
